    Here we can see that the gold swords on the standard frontline ribbon of WW1 do indeed represent a quite scarce M1913 Bavarian Military Merit Cross 1st Class and not a 3rd Class with incorrect colored swords--


    following is the statute ribbon used on ALL Bavarian Military Merit Order and Cross awards--with and without swords--until 1913. This second ribbon is for a M1905 Military Merit cRoss 2nd Class. See "Swords: Bavarian Silver 01."
