    Swords: Silver Bavarian 01

This is the statute ribbon, used for ALL awards of the Bavarian Military Merit Orders and Crosses from 1866 to 1913.

One clue that this ribbon bar dates from the 1930s are the alloy and not real silver swords.

The rest of the ribbon bar shows it was for a 1904-06 Southwest Africa veteran who returned for WW1 combat service as a Feldwebelleutnant

so here this ribbon and swords = a M1905 Military Merit Crtoss 2nd Class for the Herero-Hottentot war.

I also have the wearer's matching medal bar.

So if you see THIS ribbon with swords, there should either be campaign medals from the wars of 1866 or 1870, or some colonial campaign medal.

See the scans "Swords: Gold Bavarian...."
