    1. Very interesting thread Bryan. I wanted to make my very small contribution for a long time, but I hadn't posted enough messages to be allowed to post good quality scans. Now, I can! RichieC, thanks for sharing your impressive collection of very nice photos!
    2. Very Nice group Bryan! That's not so easy to find a documented Glory 3rd group. I wish your research will come back to you soon and with interesting citation.
    3. Thanks a lot Rick for your detailed answers and very helpful information! You really know a lot and in various area! Those were scans I had already in the PC. I will try to make new and better scans sometime later placing them sideway as you suggested and will post the ones still unclear. There is a huge difference when scanning them sideways.. we can clearly see details of the golden surface on your scans... mines are all shredded wheats as you said! Thanks again, Etienne
    4. Here is the reverse for # 3. It is a blue that is pretty dark and which is close "green" color. But definitely blue. The scan color is not the best, it is darker in reality. It's definitely Air force... I bought it from Doug Drabik some years ago and if I remember correcly, he said they were the type used during late GPW and shortly after.
    5. I tried to make the pictures very small not to use too many posts. Here is what I was able to come to. Thanks Rick. I see that again you started to answer me very quickly. I will try to re-scan them later on the other side as you suggested. 1- Junior Officer - ? - Parade - ? 2- Major General - Tank Troop - Service - Period? 3- Major General - Air Force - Parade? - Period? 4- Junior officer - Air Force - Field? - Period? 5- Senior Officer - ? - Field? - ? 6- Counter Admiral - Navy - Parade? - Period? 7- Major General - Tank Troop - Parade? - Period? 8- Kursuant - ? - ? - ? 9- Major - ? - ? -? 10- Junior Lieutenant - ? - ? - ? 11- Lieutenant - Airborne Troops - ? - ? 12- Senior Lieutenant - Air Force - Parade - ? 13- Senior Officer - ? - ? - ? 14- Captain - ? - ? - ? 15- Colonel - ? - ? - ? 16- Junior Lieutenant - ? - ? - ? 17- ? - ? - ? - ?
    6. Same thing... With 8-15 displayed this way: 8-9-10 11-12-13 14-15
    7. Hello fellow members! I have seventeen pairs of soviet shoulder boards and I would like to get some help for identification. I would like to know get the rank (when there are stars on the boards), branch or army, parade/service/field, and approximate period. I start with 1-7 in the following layout: 1-2-3 4-5-6 7
    8. Maybe one day those Red Star medallions will end-up on the Mother Hero backgrounds shown in first post to make the very rare soviet order of the "Bolshevik Hero"!
    9. That tells everything. But if you wanted to try, you could always ask for high quality pic and post them here (or on the other forum) and have experts to look at it. I know Alexei, Paul J. S. and Andrei Kuznetsov among others are very helpful in this way.
    10. Wow! Thanks Bob. This site is full of obvious fake. And for some other, I am sure that a careful examination would reveal they are also fake. When you see that Title of Meritorious Pilot Badge sell for just 100$ more than a Navy Dagger (448$), you know something is really wrong.
    11. First time I see a dealer forcing people to accept a use policy and to register in order to have the right to see the items for sale!
    12. Thanks Christian. Being on the other side of the Atlantic, I haven't done many purchases in Europe other than very cheap items where that was ok to take a small risk. I will check his site by curiority, but that kind of price would be ridiculous if the awards were real. Even though at my level, I cannot even afford to dream at night of such awards, I would believe an authentic RB # 6 would be worth at least 50,000 USD (if not 100,000) . And who would buy such rare awards without knowing for sure the provenance and without a reliable certificate of authenticity. Speaking about the labour Glory 1cl, there was a guy in Italy making some nice copies by hand. He can engrave the serial number you want on it. Other than the cold enamel, they look pretty convincing. Best regards
    13. reverse... Taraskin's Order of Glory 3rd Class (# 586312) Type 2 Variation 1, hand-engraved serial number
    14. Thanks Rick! That's very fast service! My understanding is that there was a decision (Ukaz) taken in 1947 to give Order of Glory 3rd class to all war invalids. I thought this was the reason why he got his order. But why was he recommended for a MMM if this is the case? Might it be that there was MMM for a group of invalids while order of Glories were for another group?
    15. Not a very special group, but still an interesting one because it's rare that we get documented Glory 3rd, and even rarer that we get a photo of the vet with it. It came with all documented medals and badge that he has on the photo.
