    1. Found somemore in the cupboard. A set of 8, unfortunately No. 23 is missing so only 7.
    2. Thanks Tom. That makes sense and it's just as similar to the German word too. Tony
    3. David, There are a few more photos but quite large, I'll try to scan and add them to the thread as best I can. Tony
    4. After Peter mentioned the Dieppe raid in a thread started by Gilbert, it made me remember that I had a German illustrated newspaper (Cologne Illustrated News) somewhere showing a few photos. I?ve dug it out and scanned some of them in case of any interest. All photos, whether Dieppe or in Africa have captions in German and French so I would imagine the Cologne Illustrated was sold in France too. Tony
    5. My latest coloured card which I think is fantastic even though the Brit doesn?t have much colour to his uniform. The reverse is written in Flemish/Dutch by Joseph Naveau Van den Corput to his brother(?) Ed. Does anyone happen to know the Dutch word for silly? ??. aan den bloedigen oorlag, looks a lot like a silly war to me so long as silly in German (bl?d) and Dutch are similar. Tony
    6. A couple more pics Gary. There aren?t any markings whatsoever on the pouch and the knife is the only piece with the DRGM number, but the press stud buttons have CS stamped on them. If I ever get rid of it I?ll give you a shout. Tony
    7. I somehow missed this the first time. A great buy Gilbert, I'll have to go to a fair with you one day, by train or bus, in case there's a bar and an Indian nearby. I didn't even know you got middle class families that far north Tony
    8. Gary, that's the DRGM number. I don't know if registered would mean it's an export piece as 'copyright' and 'made in' are found in English on wartime items too. Admitedly books and plates though. But I may well be wrong. Still, I could sell it as an escape kit captured from a member of the SOE while she was repairing a damaged strut of the Lysander that had just arrived to take her back to London Tony
    9. I like these patriotic pieces and have had quite a few. It would no doubt have been worn around the neck with a silver coloured chain. Tony
    10. Thanks Gary, at least I now know a little more about the maker. I reckon it was probably made in the 20s or 30s but haven't a glue what for. Tony
    11. Hello Stuart, I must admit I was hoping it was something a little more exotic, I only guessed North Midland because I have a medal group to a member of the 3/2 N. Midland Field Ambulance. I just can't find any details about this NMDTASC man at the National Archives online which is very annoying. I do have the book 'Wait for the Waggon' so will have to dig it out and see if I can find anything else. Thanks Tony
    12. Hello, Can anyone help me out with a unit ID? The unit is NMDTASC and I have no idea what that is but I'm guessing at North Midland Division Territorial Army Service Corps, something I've never actually heard of and don't even know if they existed. Any guesses, can anyone confirm my guess or do some of you actually know? Tony
    13. Yep, it appears you've cornered the market. I've seen some very nice French and Belgian docs at flea markets and Bourses aux armes or whatever you call them but unfortunately I can't read French. If the Belgian ones I've seen were in Flemish, I might have a chance of understanding them. Tony
    14. All I can find in one of my books is Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken which you more or less guessed anyway.
    15. Thanks for the input. Peter, I mean the National Archives http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...amp;queryType=1 Pylon, great link that I never knew about before, but unfortunately I didn't find him there. Tony
