The only person I could find with several matching German awards was Generalleutnant Krakow. Gebirgsjaeger. I am aware that some Generals "dressed down" their ribbon bars, not to include long service awards and other state awards, an example of this for instance would be General Hans Krebs, but there are many other examples out there. Austrian Military Merit Cross, 3rd Class with War Decoration: 2 May 1918. It makes sense that if he was awarded this medal, he would also wear the 1938 Austro-Hungarian Commemorative medal. As for the Ernestine Haus Order and Finnish awards, I cannot find a match...

I have this nice Oldenburg ribbon bar, which is a similar bar to that on a thread started by Christer. This bar has a few extras to it. Vor Dem Feinde clasp, Austrian bravery medal and 40 years faithful service device. Its in very good condition. Hi Christer, I think all the Rosettes represent "commander grade" awards. Order of the Lion of Finland Commander 1st Class Finnish order of the White Rose 1st Class Commander (Knight) Order of the Cross of Liberty Commander Grade. Finnish Civil Guard Merit Cross. I thought Gebirgsjaeger too. I couldn't find an exact match on the German awards though.

Do you think this belonged to a row accompanied with another 6 decorations? Could it have belonged to a diplomat or ambassador?

Here is my contribution to this thread. I have been lucky to pick up these Slovakian ribbon bars over time. 2, 3 placers and a single bar. The construction is VERY similar to German manufacture, albeit in a narrower scale. The ribbon bar construction is very sturdy and well designed. I think my interpretation of these medals is correct: Bar 1: Slovakian Bravery Medal with enamel roundel "ZA HRDINSTVO 3. Class" Slovakian bravery Medal with Clasp "For Merit" "ZA ZÁSLUHY" commemorative medal for the defence of Slovakia March 1939 Bar 2: Kríž svetovej vojny (WWI commemorative Cross) ? commemorative medal for the defence of Slovakia Sept 1939 Bar 3: Slovakian War Victory Cross "VZK IV. Class"

If he theoretically retired in 1940, he might have tried to keep a low profile for the duration of the war, ESP as the war situation became unstuck for the Wehrmacht. It would Be interesting to see what did become of him after 1940 and get a D.O.D to conclude his story. :-)

I absolutely love the second row of those ribbon bars :love: That mini enamelled Hungarian award is beautiful!! And here is a picture of the back It is a typical Godet ribbon bar. The sharp detail on all the devices are the first give away, note how PERFECTLY the 3 crown devices have been attached. The Hungarian award on the end could have been made "in house" as it is the very first example I have seen of this device. The eagle retains it's gilded finish and still has a beautiful shine to it. On the back; the catch is the second give away of the Godet jewellers, being a nice chunky durable example.

I'd like to share this beautiful example of an NSDAP ribbon bar which features some interesting and rare devices. The ribbons: NSDAP 15 years Membership NSDAP 10 years membership 1938 Anschluss Medal Olympic Games 1936 Medal 1st Class Italian Order of the Crown 1st Class Hungarian Signum Laudis Medal. All ribbons are the wider type making the length of this bar 15.5cm.

It's always nice to learn more about the objects we acquire and the people behind them, so thank you very much for taking the time to do this for me. Here are two of my photos, for a none restricted view of the birds.

From my collection I have this very nice ribbon bar, with accompanying photograph. It belonged to an Oberst, but the name of this guy is inconclusive as, there are two versions of the spelling of his name on the back of the period photo. He was a Bavarian, had 25 years + service and took part in the Anschluss with Austria in 1938. His medals I think are as follows: 1. Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914-18 2. Bavarian Military Cross with Swords 3. 1934 Cross of Honour with swords 4. Bayern Militärische Jubiläumsmedaille 5. Bayern Goldene Hochzeits-Jubiläumsmedaille 1918? 6. Faded Bavarian Military Service decoration 7. Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnung 25yr 8. Wehrmacht Dienstauszeichnung 12yr 9. 1938 Anschluss Medal for Austria. Would anyone like to have a guess at the name of this officer? and maybes add a little about his military career? Thanks
