hi all a recent arrival a group of documents to a soldier named shimura the group includes a china incident and manchurian incident award document plus a number of monetary awards for bravery during both incidents most interestingly for me a border incident medal award document and a detailed service history to the same soldier was included kindly translated by rich catalano private 1st class shimura arrived in darien in 1936 as part of a mg company and served in china until 1941 and was heavily involved in north manchuria he spent 1941 to 1944 in japan at army hq and then as an nco at the army pilot acadamy the border incident document has a healthy dose of nics patina but i figured these document are pretty hard to find and worth preserving, note the medal and document box are seperate purchases ,shame these get seperated from the documents

hi all a couple of photos of the battlefield one a close up of the wagon area i believe the ground at the time of the battle was very hard and would expect some type of deformation of the relatively soft lead even on a spent projectile but you never know,as an aside as a teenager in the 70s i visited the zulu war battlefields with my parents and at ulundi you could purchase martini henry cartridge cases in various states of condition from the local youngsters out to make a buck recently here in nz a framed board came up for sale with buttons misshapen projectiles bits of cartridge cases and various metal items including a horse bit supposedly dug up at isandlwana

hi all just thought id post a couple of photos of a recent purchase my collecting interest ends at ww2 and earlier but i will never own the first and last of japans war medals but have been looking for a post war replica of this medal for a while and was hoping for something a bit different from the plastic cased medals this one seems to be of a better quality the wooden case is well fitted and the medal is silver and heavy the ribbon is also thicker than most ribbons just wondering if any members have seen this type before i imagine it would have been fairly expensive to make (thanks rich c)
