Soviet Red Banner 3rd award research
rboomsma posted a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
For Rick Research I scanned this one, hope it is better. This is for my red banner ser 1787 3rd award. It came with an Ukaz doc for long service, but he had numerous other awards. There is the awrd card and another doc, which I assume is for other awards? -

My researcher tells me: For early awards (pre-1941) the citations are stored in a different archive with limited access. If you want I can also look the guy up in the era newspapers. At least I am likely to get the "list" citation and, may be, more info. So I have asked to do that, maybe we can get a little more info on the pilot. -

This is his award card have not translated yet. I have asked for his personnal file now. As you will see he got some nice awrads, Asked also now for the citation for his Kuztov 2nd class and Nevsky. I suspect he has some interesting facts in his file. -
Thanks I have been told now 194, but 254 is possible given the slant and curve on the first digit, 2 nd digit could be a five. Any more opinons would be appreciated If some one could post some orb serials with a 1 and with 9 and with 5 and 2's in them so I can compare how they inscribed them.

Soviet Red Banner Reverse

Thats what I was thinking also. I wanted to then reveiw who they were and if they were important. Then request additional items such as personal file or other citations. Like my Red Banner #4 he got A Kutuzov 2nd class and a Neveskey plus the other 3 red banners, and various other medals. So I am now thinking this one might be worth getting the extra. -
Soviet My research Book

I don't have that many groups to research, so it won't be a problem for me. But is a problem I would like to have. I just should have started collecting sooner. -

Thanks Dave and Rick. I have never had research done before so all these docs I got were confusining. And My wife who is Russian had some difficulty translating completely for me. As her command to translate to English is not the best. I will be posting the info on these two Soldiers that I got with the dates of there awrds, one got many high awards. I know getting and asking for all info is best, but I had asked for 10 awrds to be researched to various degrees, and money becomes a cost factor. -

Thanks, I guess I will have to ask where the citaion is, or why I didn't get it. -
If some one could explain what these docs are. I asked for research on a Red Banner #3 and 4. I asked for the award card and citations. I got the award cards and both came with this doc, which seems to show mass awards of Lenins and Red Banners on the following pages, both my holders of the Red Banners are listed in the section for Red Banners awards. It does not state what number of red banner they are getting, just that they are getting one. I have already come to the conculsion that these are not citations, so what is this document exactley. And did I not get any citations because these Red Banners my have been long servcie awards??? This doc below shows 185 lenins to be awarded and to whom. And 2625 Red Banners to be given out, my guy is listed number 116

Soviet Red Banner Reverse

Thanks Dave It makes more sense now. So the second doc is for the Medal of Valour and not to do with the Red Banner? Am I to assume it was a medal of valour but non serial numbered variation? I didn't ask for personal files on all of the researched orders I had done due to costs. I got one Red banner 4th award done and I may get his personal record as he got a wack of orders and medals. He was also awarded a Kutuzov 2nd class, so his record may be very interesting. -

I got this order by itself from a dealer. I find it interesting also that a political officer was out there fighting also instead at the back waiting to shot any who retreated. -

I asked for the citation and Award card book. I got actuall copies no email. Translation is by my wife. I got the award card info and there was another page that was smae size with item lines from 1 to 17, most was blank other than his name and regiment. I am assuming this was the citation, just not filled out. I will try to scan the second doc, maybe you can tell me if this is the citation. Many thanks.
