Here are the DAF badges that I obtained recently, as seen on this thread http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?act=post&do=re...ost&f=72&t=6977
Feel free to post any you have.

Sorry for the delay in posting more images, been a little busy. I'll start a new thread for the DAF pins as a couple of you guys said that you also had some to post. Here's a link http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7135&st=0&gopid=68243& .
I'll post the rest of the Frauenschaft on this thread in a day or so.

Whats the base metal, any thoughts?
Just checked, both are magnetic..... I've also heard back from the previous owner, they were bought sometime between 1985 & 1990, but whether they had been in a collection before that is anybodys guess.

Matt, on the whole the finish on the obverse is very good I think. The smaller one just looks worn & rubbed. I've no idea on their history but I can ask.
By the way these two rareties are on sale for ?200 each for anyone who wants them.....
Seriously though, if anyone wants them for study they can have them for free on condition that they are not passed on as originals, all I ask is something towards postage depending where in the world you are.

The edge also has pitting & a distinct line all the way around (the line doesn't show up too well in the pic). There are no virtical shearing lines usually seen on these.

More poor details, the sunwheel & rune are uneven.

But close up of the script shows poor lines these should be sharpe & straight, not wavy

As it had been painted, the finish looks as thought the paint has bubbled.
But again poor mis casting on the guide area for the plate, not a crisp shape normally seen.

The other badge is this one. Just looked worn at first glance

Pitting again, plus the poor casting of the edge of the pin plate guide.

Poor detail on the M number plus the pitting.

However the reverse shows it all under any light.
First clue is too obvious, wrong pinplate for the guide. However, I suppose you could claim that there may have been a shortage of the correct plates......
But there's more. Tell tale pitting from the casting over the back which is under the finish. Also deformity on the shaping of the plate guide.

Well that's true, it wasn't a fair question with such a poor picture & no reverses.
Here's the first one.
It doesn't show on this scan because of the bright light but the front has some artificial aging, probably heated with a flame.

Ok time for a bit of education here & fun here.
From my rather poor picture at the top of this thread can anyone tell me which 2 badges I believe to be cast copies.......
I shall post scans later to explain my theory.

Hallo Don
, nice looking selection of badges, any significance to the coloured border on some? i.e area or region??
Kevin in Deva.
Hi Kevin,
Yes, the colour of the border signifies the level of command the member of staff held:
Blue for Orts
Black for Kries (between 1933-1938)
White for Kries (from 1939-1945)
Red for Gau
Yellow for Reich
The size of the silver edging around the badge broke the command down still further.

Thought you may enjoy seeing what arrived yesterday. There's a few doubles that will need re-homing, but on the whole a pleasing haul.
If you wish to see more detailed shots of any, just ask otherwise I won't take up space posting them all.
Cheers
