    6. I was actually in his home "town" a couple of years ago... the following pics from his home town web site... The beach where he would have probably launced his fishing boat from...
    7. So.... when the chance came to get a small group from a Breton sailor... I jumped at it....
    8. I have often mentioned how I love the Britanny coast. The howling winds, rain, rugged cliffs, heather, bays, deep blue sea. I try to perusade the wife we should retire there..... This would be the perfect shot to describe it....

    14. This is for a French sailor who was listed as having Tonkin service from the 27th august 1883-1884. From what I can see, he was arrested twice, and spent a lot of time in hospital I cannot figure out if he was stationed on land or on a ship, and if so, which. I assume he was sick, not wounded?
    15. A stranmge display... a nazi flag, some teapots, picture of a woman and a bit of stone.... museum caters to all kinds I take it ;-)
    16. Hi 1) my spelling is really atrocious 2) I wrote to the war office suggesting they add an extra "N"... but they said they needed it for the "S######thorpe Yeomanry" 3) In South Africa Fanny means the same as it does in Australia... it is only our US friends that have it assbackwards... ;-)
    17. I am at some stage going to buy myself a WW1 group. From what I hear, a regular group will just be the Victory medal, Purple heart and maybe silver star coming in the 1930s... Just what would a group like this cost? ie. named silver star with purple heart and a victory medal. Then a simple purple heart and victory? Thanks Chris
