Hello gents, I have heard a lot of references to the "Husken" book that has tinnies and stickpins. Can anyone direct me to purchasing one of these? Any information on the book is welcome. I assume they're ok, comparing them to Ralph A's posts in the database, but any help is hugely appreciated.

Hi gents, Just thought I'd post some quality scans for some more comments on this one. The details seem pretty good, but I could very well be mistaken. The pin is a replacement, not the original, and the hinge matches other originals. Any scrutiny is encouraged of this badge and any more opinions are great. Pat

the back with Juncker mm. The blob on the front is from when these replacement pins were soddered on afterwards. Perhaps early post-war souvenir made from leftover original plates and just had cheap pins added. Any opinion on this is welcome. Pat

Hi Daniel, The grip doesn't feel like wood, it is much too smooth and hard, so it might be made of horn. It's definitely not plastic or bakelite. This falls into the period I suspected it to be as well, I've got a few pieces from between wars Germany. Any other info that can be added or thoughts on the horn grip? Thanks, Pat

Hi guys, That is a nice match Hardy, it must be the same eagle. So was your father a paratrooper? It is funny you say that about the "coveralls" because when my grandpa brought back his souvenirs (a full officers jacket, 3 caps, and a few other items my mom and her sisters would use them for dress up and playing out on the farm, and in later years in those crazy '60's my mom wore the German officers jacket to high school! (A Mother's Day tidbit) . Eventually all the items got packed away or lost when they moved off the farm and they have been "lost" ever since. Hopefully they pop up because I don't think they thought they would be worth as much as they are now, either. Oh well, my gramps still has his fully mint captured Mauser pistol (with firing pin he smuggled back in his jacket) and all his personal stuff from his time in the RCAF. Anyways, to answer Laurence's question, there are usually quite a few shows here in the Okanagan/Vancouver area (at least 1 every 3 or 4 months), varying in quality. This is a retirement area so many items tend to pop up around here. There is a gun show in Kamloops and Salmon Arm every year as well. How is Alberta? Any shows I shoud make the trip across the mountains to attend? Pat

This is what got me hooked on collecting, just sitting there and looking at the medal, thinking of what someone had to do and go through to receive it. Then trying to find out every bit of information you can and maybe if you're lucky you'll come across a complete story like the one above. My two grandfather's war stories were what started my interest of the history of these objects, just seeing all his war tattoos and his souvenir Mauser he got off of a German soldier after an attack on their airbase, and it still goes on today. Hello gents, I just picked up these beauty WW2 Calgary Highlanders cap badges at a local antiques shoe yesterday (I'm sure Darrell and Laurence will be fans), and I was wondering why they have two different finishes. The one is the standard copper colour, while the other has a brown paint-like coating on it. I haven't seen a Canadian Cap badge with this colour finish before. Any other examples out there? My two guesses on the differences would be A: the brown finish was rubbed off of the one, or B: they were from a different time period. Any ideas on this question is appreciated. Thanks again, Pat

Hello gents, I finally got myself a Luftwaffe Cloth Chest Eagle yesterday at a local show, don't see many out here in BC. It checks out in blacklight and has good quality stitching, and bends easily and seamlessly. Can anybody tell me what rank and specifics this insignia is for, and basically any information on the badge? I know it's lowly on the scale, but I'm sure there are many amateurs out there as well who would like to see these insignias,and get some background on them. Thanks ye gurus, Pat

Hi there, I just picked up this RLB Reichsluftschutzbund member badge yesterday, made by Hoffstatter & Bonn marked Ges.Gesch. I think this is an earlier piece, and it has no RZM mark. Were these commonly marked with RZM's or not? It has really good condition blue enamel, but is missing the fastener. Does anyone else have any RLB member pins to show? Thanks, Pat
