We carried a brown leather holster worn on the left side, and backwards for a draw with the right hand. In 1983 I was issued with a Walther P38, 8 shot pistol. The uniform I wore mostly was the heavy and thick polyester "safari suit" comprising longs and a short sleeved tunic due to the hot weather where I served. We only wore the full uniform on ceremonial occasions.
