    1. More evidence

This is a Death Certificate of another German Soldier who won Iron Cross 1-st and 2-nd Classes and Bulgarian Order for Bravery Sodiers Cross

Interesting fact is that all documents I found are for NCOs - with rank of Gefreiter (Lance Corporal)

The most famous Gefreiter in History was Adolf Hitler- just as information

      Regards

    3. More evidence

This is a letter sent to the wife of wounded German soldier in the battle of Stalingrad by his Company Commander. In the lower left corner are listed the soldier's awards including the Bravery Order -Soldier Cross

      Supossedly he perished later on.

He was awarded Bulgarian Order Bravery -Soldiers cross for his actions in Greece before bieng sent to Stalingrad. The award Document in the previous posting and this letter are part of a nice Grouping.

    4. Hi New World,

Your comment -These soldier crosses with 1941 date are supposed to be very rare, there's a lot of controversy around them, as many spcialists in the field of Bulgarian awards believe these crosses were never officially produced- made me to do a little bit of research

I found more evidence that the 1941 Soldiers Crossess have been awarded to German soldiers and officers -mostly NCO

    5. Hi,

I do not collect British Orders, however recently I aquired this Order of ST.Michael and St. George.

The Dealer stated that it is from around 1930 period, however he was not sure.

The Order came without box/case and ribbon. It is reduced size -45 mm in diemeter.

      Can you identify the period?

Can you give me any information where I can get box/case and, if possible, original ribbon

      Regards

    6. Hi AnnMarie,

First of all --very nice Order

If the size of the cross is is 50 mm in diameter it is 4-th Class (Officer) of the Order -Second Ferdinand Emmission -1908-1918

The crown is Kings Type and it was introduced after Prince Ferdinand proclaimed himself as KIng and Bulgaria from Principality became Kingdom in 1908

Your Order lacks its ribbom with the rosette for Officer Class

As 922F mentioned, this Emmission has the oakleves on the reverse gilded similar to the First Ferdinand Emmision 1891-1908 The only diffrence is the crown which was replaced from Princely(domed and rounded - second order on my picures) to Kings type.

Also The Lion,on the reverse medallion of the First Two Emmissions,, is with rounded crown and rouned Saxon Shield.

    7. The other Order -it looks like to be from French Maker It came with French Legion of Honour Officer Ribbon with rosette

The cross is 35 mm wide and 4.5 mm thick It appears to be 4-th Class of The second Model 1887 - however it has a crown, which looks like the crowns made by French makers for exported foreign orders. Usually this Class comes without crown

      Hi,

I added recently to my collection Princely Issue of the 4-th Class of the Order of St Alexander -French made and marked with a "boar head" for silver on the ring.

The Stamdard Princely issue of the 4-th Class is 38 mm wide and although it is thicker than the Austrian and German made crosses it is still thinner compared to the Unusual Variation -also, French made ( the typical "F" letter on the February on the reverse medallion)

Now I can give you more updated pictures with the Unusual Variation of this class with a crown compared to the other Crosses.

You can see the difference especially on the last picture where I have included The Unusual Variation of the 4-th Class of the Princely Issue with the crown, The Standard, French made, Princely issue of the 4th Class and the of the Kings Boris III issue pf the 4-th Class.

    8. Hi,

I would like to start new topic regarding this New Reproduction of the First Empire Grand Cross Star.

I did not list it in the ongoing topic regarding the First Empire LOH, since I did not feel it belongs there.

This Star appeared on EBay France not long ago. The Dealer claimed that it came from a recent French movie set.

He sold few Stars, not only LOH, on very reasonable prices.

Since then I have seen this Star to be sold for as much as 1600 EURO on EBay France, and for around US$ 800 on EBay USA.

Currently is for sale/auction on EBay France with starting price 525 EURO.

Any idea about the origin of this Star and what could be the collector"s and market value.

      Regards

    9. Hi Bison,

Thank you for the pictures. and the information.

These are exactly some of the marks on my LOHs

I do not know whether the differenf marks indiciate different period of making

Most of the 2-nd Empire LOH have the mark on the first picture, while those ones from 3-rd Republic have the marks from the second picture with the star above the letters. I am just making a wild gess.

I will contact Guy re: the book

    10. Hi VC89,

Yes, as Uwe stated the LII with swords above the cross and under the crown is real, however not official award.

It was made with anticipation that the LII wil follow partially the Leopold1 Order and a Military division will be introduced. It never happened.

Regarding the picture of The LII withouth the ribbon --sorry the swords on top of the ribbon ring are not permanently attached

I just clipped them to the ring.

I keep it this way not to lose the swords till I find a nice Officer ribbon I bought the Cross with a wrong ribbon.

I bought it because I have never seen before such gigantic crown on LII Knight or Officer.

I try to collect unusual or rare pieces of L1 and LII.

      Regards
