I would say the price of a messed with ek2, without rock solid provenance as wartime produced and worn, its value is whatever you want to pay for it in my opinion, sorry
I agree Any conversion could be war time or made recently
The question is if the collector wants to have it or not.

Do not forget that there is 23 25 % commission which makes the final price around 15 000
Your argument also is true An Original awarded piece with a very strong provenance will fetch much more

Hi Johan,
Yes, good observation. However from the position on the chain one can suspect that it is 2nd Class Commander.
Also on the picture Karl Theodor von Kinzelbach is wearing Colonel uniform.

Hi Kasle,
If we take into account also the fact how many "period wearer´s copies" of EK1 1914 are out there - and we like them, because there belong all those clamshells, cruciforms, oval screwbacks, mouse traps and ladders - your meaning as general thought is completely wrong.
With all you respect the discussion is about the Grand Cross ..and mine comments related only to it.
If you have to use my comments as general thought we have to include other Decorations as PLM and many others Orders sold on the market as such
Cheers

So far i found he reached the Rank of Commander He was born in Bombay India in 1905.
No surprise he was born in India, since his father was an Officer from the British Army -reached rank of Major. Killed in Action in Belgium in 1914
Thanks again for the link

Hi,
To be honest I have no idea.
I hope someone from the forum who is more into the Socialist period Medals will know the answer.
My interest is mainly Royal Bulgarian Orders .From the Socialist Period i collect mainly Hero of Socialist Labour Stars
Good luck.

The dust is something personal.
Some collectors clean it and take pictures and let the patina /dust build up again.
Some keep cleaning their Orders and EKs. Their argument is that if you are awarded person will do it all the time if you wear them
Many collectors like to keep the Orders and decorations as they are -dusty,rusty and with patina.
Be careful of patina/dust Many fakers know how to get them easy Also the rust Remember old rust is always dark brown New one is bright orange

It is a very unusual
The marks 900 and AR are for Silver
I can not read the other mark
What is the unusual is the flat central medallions and the blue enamel on the back
Private of foreign made (French)?!!
