Hi Igor,
That is another nice find.
Is any way we can ask the Museum in Sofia to measure those Stars
The Prince Ferdinand Star looks bigger size
I can assume that the Stars for the Monarchs
Prince Alexander Collar looks spectacular
BTW It is interesting that on the table listed in one of the earliest post it shows that the Collar was not awarded
I assume that as Monarchs Prince Alexander and Prince Ferdinand automatically were classified for them without the need to bet recorded in the lists

Hi Elmar Lang,
Thank you for listing
This is stunning Star and to have it in such good condition is remarkable!.
Also this is a quite rare maker - additional bonus for the Star and the collector

Yes, Thanks all involved in the research.
I also agree that it could be clerical mistake
I came across (and I have few) decorations with mistaken text by the makers Reason, in my opinion is that the text is in foreign for the makers language
One is for sure we now know that the he was awarded a Grand Officer Class (2nd Class) of the Order for Civil merit and only the Star is different from the Standard design. I came across few (and I have some) decorations with not a standard design What was the reason it is pure guess
As far as i managed to track his career he reached rank of Oberst (Colonel) and Grand officer will be more appropriate to be awarded.

I am amazed the numbers of foreigners awarded compared to the Bulgarians ,especially 1st Class Sets.
Hi Igor,
Nice find of the Group photo of the awards in the Koburg Museum

Thanks Dave and Ian,
That is something
I noticed in Ian post of the list of the awards twice abbreviations - bulg, and ott and ones -it
Those could be related for his foreign awards on the photo, although not sure

Hi 922F,
Yes i noticed that the Star body is like the old style Austrian Stars.
We can speculate that this could be specially commissioned Set to this person due to his rank and position in the society. The other question is is the Set 1st Class or 2nd Class with a "special' Star It is difficult to measure the cross on the photo
The order on the medal bar is more likely an Officer Class
The Knight Class of this Model is a bit slimmer ..and also rarely awarded
Hi Dave Danner,
I tried to Google search this Person No susses
Can you list any link

Hi New World,
Perhaps Igor means something else
Let's him clarify his point
As far i can comprehend his main point is whether the Order of St Alexander was awarded to ladies with special for ladies attachments and ribbons
I do not know this answer and Igor might get more hints to solve this mystery
Cheers

Hi 922F,
This type of Stars are introduced by King Boris when the Grand Cross was created.
I have seen, as you stated only handful luxury stars of that type from previous models and all they were awarded to other Royals or VIPs What i found interesting is that the 1st Class cross was worn as a neck badge. They had to be very impressed by the look of the those big crosses, especially the reverse side.
I suspect those Stars, as you stated to be made by the top Austrian and /or French makers at that time

Hi Igor,
You have done a superb research.
The Cross is really silver gilded with Gold central medallions
You can see the marks on the reverse of the crowns arms
The size is 55 mm wide.
Comparing with the next Prince Ferdinand Model of the 1st Class Cross It is slimmer, however the width and the height are the same -55 mm

Hi Igor,

Hi New World,
It is strange indeed.
I looked the photos of the other items of this Auction they look different.
Perhaps, they used photos submitted by the persons who sell the items, thus the different quality

Hi New World,
I assumed the same, however Igor has to clarify.
Also, I can not see the connection of this post with the topic

Hi Igor,
What do you mean "these two orders came from the same house"?
Were they awarded to the same person? ..or anything else.
I know the history of the early Order of St Alexander. It was offered to me twice by two different sellers before you got a hold of it

Hi Duncan,
That is wise
Having one or few in your collection will give you invaluable "hands on" experience for your future collecting.
We all have been through this period No one is bullet proof

The chance to buy an original 1914 Original Grand Cross or any Grand Cross of the iron Cross is extremly slim.
There are only handful awarded and made.
Al those so called "old copies' "wearer copy" Museum copy' terms are to increase the value of the item
I had my share in this and I sold them I liked them for a while, however i had to make my mind whether i have to have such items in my collection, I admit that they were good for display.
The point is whether a collector is happy to keep in their collection or not...and whether they y like them or not
The collector's value is less relevant
Also how much they want to spend on those items. It is personal choice
The sellers can label them anything to sell and make profit/living
Cheers
