Hi JohanH,
Yes, i assume that the price would have been bigger.
I collect Orders from Europe and i usually try to get the Miniature of the Full size Order i have in my collection.
Sweden Orders are not my first line of collecting, however I have few of them ,since I like their design
All of us have certain budget. Sometimes is bigger sometimes is lower.
Perhaps, next time you will beat me I never get upset when outbid by a fellow collector. What is upsets me when a Dealer buys the item and re -sells for a higher price Well they have to live..however not on my expense
Regards

Hi JohanH,
Sorry, That is life It reminds me a story of English Lord, who won an item on Auction, how much he paid for it The price was not disclosed to the Public. His answer was " Well put that way It was more valuable for me then for the other bidders" At least you know the final price. i was prepared to pay more the you wanted to spend for it
Good Luck next time
Not yet arrived I will let you know
Cheers

There you are I felt the topic was started because of not a correct ribbon
Ian you can see those incorrect ribbons on eBay on Dealers sites and Auctions. Some sellers will indicate, if they know, that the ribbon is incorrect
That is the purpose of those Forums - the share knowledge and experience

That is very interesting

Hi Ian,
One reason could be that the original ribbon was damaged and a new, not the correct one, was "married" to the order. I have seen with other countries Orders.
However since i am not very familiar with Austrian Orders, that is only speculation

Hi Justin H,
yes it is interesting photo
The man on the photo participated in the September Uprising in 1923
From the text it is obvious that he was participant, however the wife , very likely, was not. The family on the picture is greeting another family, from the bottom of their harts, for the coming New 1974 Year and also best wishes for health and happiness. Also greeting for the Celebration of 50 years of the Uprising. in 1923
I hope I managed to translate the text correctly..It took me a while. If it is not correct some of the Bulgarian members can feel free to edit my text

Hi Tifes,
Thank you for the clarification and the additional information. Very likely he won some kind of contract during the Prince/King Ferdinand period The Prince was very popular visitor in Austria and perhaps in a way involved in the contract. I suspect he was impressed by the quality of work . King Ferdinand was mad about quality
After he abdicated in 1918 in favour his son King Boris III it seems this contract was not renewed
Most of the Bulgarian Orders and decorations during King Boris III period were made by Rothe or German Makers

Hi Tifes,
Lovely Second Class of the Order for Military Merit I have the same one..sadly not in a box
I suppose that this firm was involved in making other Orders and Decorations apart from the Bulgarian Ones.
Only what we need a Catalog from The Firm Usually the produced them with the items they make and the price
Second option is the more advanced collectors of Austrian Orders to help us

Hi David M,
Most mass production fakers make the the crosses and the stars in big numbers and limited number of the specific central medallions. I started a Topic on the Bulgarian Section regarding fakes
There have been fiew books how to detect fakes. The problem is that those fakers read them and inprove their products
Also many of them are made abroad with cheap materials and labour
Some of those items were sold bellow the market value, some are distributed through Dealers and Auction Houses
The Good think is that since the Pandemic started those fakers are not as active
