    1. Hummmm Nice topic, as a collector of belgian medals and having surfed through this site for almost one year, never bumped onto this thread... Just a boring day makes me coming on this thread... I have almost the same thing, however no marks oid... Modern pin. Maby one knows what to think of this??
    2. Also another group with; Knight Crown Knight leopold II with Palm Article 4 medal with Palm Croix d'Guerre WW1 with palm French Croix d'Guerre WW1 palm Can't find the picture yet.. will post it
    3. Jummy Indeed, something like that... Got two little groups myself with the order of leopold II... Image is how I got it.. Reribonned them, due to almost digested ribbons. The veteran must have displayed them proudly, but then you get the ribbons fading away and then they get digested.... When I touched them, they broke apart in my hands....
    4. Wonderfull information... Got some more pictures yourself??? I will buy a digital camera soon and then take some pictures of my small collection belgian medals. On ebay is someone promoting a large group of medals with papers; Itemnumber; 6633549130 asking almost $400,- way too much for me. But before it goes offline, I will post the pictures here; Officer Crownorder Officer Leopold II Knight Leopold I Knight Crownorder Knight leopold II all with swords furthermore; fouragere of croix d'guerre Medal of the volunteer Article 4 medal with silver Palm Croix d'Guerre 1er Guerre with 1 bronze lion, 1 bronze palm and something which looks a silver palm A medal of the labor Firecross victory medal commemorative medal WW1 with volunteers-crown and 1 year clasp. The other in the upper-left corner is the laureat of labor
    5. I have seen one of such stars at Hendrik's site... But he had a star, where the lion faces the wrongside.. This is absolutely UGLY.... Such a high order and then so ugly?? However, what do you think of the back?? Pin looks strange.. shouldn't it be more like a needle or ??? And no jewellers-mark ???
    6. Wonderfull medal... There should be more medals of this order... If you have more images.... Let 'em come!!! I would have doubted about buying this medal of the African Star... It just looked like it had been spoilt... A little upgrade from the order of the crown to the order of the african star... Palm denotes indeed the WW1 award for bravery if I'm correct?? But if I may remark one thing?? The silver palm looks exactly like the modern ones... Old ones mostly had cut-away- spaces between the leaves, isn't it??? Most jewellers & Manufacturers of the medals still do sell palms, but those are always without space between the leaves, like yours.... I'm just curious about yours or hendriks opinion.... Lovely awards & Pictures... Go on!!!
    7. Close up of; Cross with ugly background and upside down laurels
    8. This will be my first post to this wonderfull site... I'm visiting this site already for quite a long time and thought that it would be time to register myself.. As a collector of belgian medals, my mouth goes watering of all those wonderfull medals.... From a fellow I got those pictures, this medal had been found in a junk-shop... complete with box.... bought for a very low price.... Junk or real?? Give me your 2 cents.. I myself consider this a quite ugly example... The gold laurels around the cross are upside down... The cross and the laurels are glued on something and than that something is glued on the breast-star. This can be observed between the cross and the laurels, normaliter one would be able to see the silver rays between the cross, but in this particular case, only the wavy gold disc can be seen.... At last, it's also ugly because of the bi-lingual center-disc No matter with the dutch language, as I'm dutch too, but I do consider the higher quality, pre 1951 thus mono-lingual, more preferable...... And french always sounds sexier on those medals Will add more images in next post... Couldn't attach a higher resolution on this post, it keeps on going crazy with me Kind Regards.
