Even LESS often do we get to see THE medal bar actually being worn in a photo of the recipient.
Is this the type with the Berlin Mint markings on the rim?
An incredibly RARE medal to see as a REAL one, and not one of the millions of fakes!
Rim markings.

An U-Boot issue Celestial globe or 'Stern Finder' by Ernst Schotte used principally to reduce the time on the surface to determine a position.
The globe of brass with applied and lacquered heavy card segments showing stars and constellations, marked with the world famous globe maker's Logo :
BERLIN - Georgr.artist.Anstalt von Ernst Schotte & Co.
Contained in a japanned heavy brass fame the base marked with Kriegsmarine Eagle, Swastika and M.
Manufacturer's details : Nautische Werkstatten G.m.b.h. Kiel 7111
The instrument comprises silvered brass Azimuth and Elevation scales, index pointer to elevation scale, rotating azimuth scale.
This is an extremely rare U-Boot navigation instrument, this one is in perfect condition with his cover, and this is certainly the most beautiful navigation instrument for an U-Boot collector.

Hello,
Picture of mine.
This type of U-Boot badge is rare but it is not my favorite, I don't like the design and the making.
Regards,
Michel

The Lorient Shield is not the most beautiful fabrication but certainly the most evocative for the U-Boot...
