Hello DavidM Thanks for your reply and opinion! Have added a new picture from another angel. I'm quit sure this is enamel but it's difficult to show this in a picture. I have compared it to enameled miniatures from WW I and the appearance is the same. What I'm trying to show in the new photo is how thick the layer is, especially around the edges. The layer is well over the gap between the core and the rim. It looks like when you have some liquid i a small container, the level around the edges will raise above the center. There is also some cracks around the year which is typical enamel cracks. I don't believe this was done by the maker but rather by a jeweller. Why? Repair or just to make it more attractive, maybe for a parade mount? Your guess is as good as mine, but I think it's an interesting personalised cross Kjell [attachmentid=44651]
