What a wonderful find and in very good condition from what the photographs show. Have to say I have never seen a Photograph showing the metal link epaulettes worn with Royal Scots buttons, I always associate them with Cavalry or mounted Units. The Medal ribbon appears to be a Volunteer Long Service award so he must have a good, long history to uncover, have you found anything out about him yet?

      Regards Simon.

    2. A nice Victory Medal and would be nice to find his accompanying War Medal. Unfortunately Private Frank Buffham is shown as Killed in Action 7th July 1917 aged 25 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion in France and Flanders. His Service record does survive as part of the burnt records and can be accessed on Ancestry although a fair amount of his record is unreadable.

    3. Living in Surrey, the other half and I are frequent visitors to the vast Military Cemeteries at Brookwood. On our last visit we found this very nicely framed and mounted American Purple Heart Medal displayed at the entrance to the American Military Cemetery and thought those of you across the pond may like to see it. Did my best with the photo's but couldn't eliminate all the flashback, sorry.

      Regards Simon.
