Found this in La Gazette Drouot: After preempting various vehicle models from the same auction house on April 18, the Musée National de la Voiture at the Château de Compiègne continued enriching its collection with Josephine’s First Empire sleigh, which fetched €212,500. Made in the 18th century, it was modernized during the Consulate for winter sports on frozen lakes. And this in the original auction: EXTRAORDINARY AND SUPERB SLEIGH HAVING BELONGED... - Lot 92 - Osenat EXTRAORDINARY AND SUPERB SLEIGH HAVING BELONGED TO THE EMPRESS JOSEPHINE. In wood painted in green and gilded. Shell-shaped body carved in half round with two griffins with spread wings on the sides, lined inside with green velvet, leather-lined mudguard, decorated on the front with a carved gilded wooden statuette representing the goddess "Hebe". The body, resting on two crosspieces and four gilded columns, carries at the back a seat called "coachman's seat" on a wrought iron support. Mounted on two wooden skids, sloping towards the front, supporting an arch enriched with thirty three bells and two bells, decorated with an eagle in gilded carved wood, with outstretched wings, and bearing at the rear for the coachman two wrought iron footrests furnished with leather and fur slippers. Length : 3 m. Width : 1m 56 B.E. (Small restorations, traces of use, later velvet, missing 4 bells). First Empire period Provenance : Former collection of M.FAURAX in 1894. Variety = Die flaw obverse (women's face), marked SILVER. Medal For 30 years service. Wrong ribbon. Correct ribbon. Medal For 20 years service. Insignia: A bronze medal in the shape of the Voortrekker Monument, depicting a scene of an ox-wagon moving through mountains (obverse). Note: 2 different reverses, also different suspenders. Medal For 10 years service. Insignia: The stretchers and torch from the SANHL coat of arms and the number 10 on a 'castle'-shaped medal superimposed on a multi-rayed 5-pointed gold-coloured star. There appears to be another design, too, displaying two serpents coiled around a torch below the number 10 on a blue shield in the centre of a multi-rayed 10-pointed gold-coloured star. As I understand it the normal day-to-day use 50p. coins will be in circulation for years to come. However, the silver and gold versions will only be available to coin collectors/dealers etc. at prices far above the face value of 50p. Hiya, Take another look at your 'unnamed' one. I can see faint traces of letters and numbers on pictures 3 and 4, which would indicate this medal has been skimmed. Picture 3 - right centre. Picture 4 - centre (what looks to be the letters R D). regards, Marcon1.

Order of Thohoyandou (1977-94) (1981-1994) For distinguished service to Venda. The order was divided into four classes: Grand Cross - for heads of state and prime ministers. Grand Commander Commander Officer Insignia: A green-enamelled oval shield framed by two ivory tusks and depicting a golden elephant head (obverse) and the Venda national arms (reverse). The first three classes are worn around the neck, and the fourth on the chest. The Grand Cross and Grand Commander also have a gold 8-pointed breast star displaying the badge. The Order of Thohoyandou – The symbols of the orders are in the form of an oval shield made from silver, framing and a facing elephant head by tusks in ivory. The higher the order the more ornate with a 8 pointed star and gilt multi rayed star. Some of the decorations have makers and silver mark. Marcon1. NB: I have seen just 2 full sets being offered on Ebay and BidorBuy in the last 5 years, so they are pretty scarce.

Hi dpast32, Very unlikely, as CUMBERLAND & WESTMORELAND CONSTABULARY is in the Northwest of England. While Hornchurch = Hornchurch is a suburban town in East London, England, and part of the London Borough of Havering. It is located 15.2 miles east-northeast of Charing Cross. There police force is Metropolitan Police. So you can see, miles apart and therefor most likely 2 different persons. The name William Wilson is a very common name. Marcon1.
