hello,I will bring some clarification on the classification Unofficial type 1 for the medal presented on my website...After buying the Laslo's book (first edition) at the end of the 80's, I wrote to Butuller firm from Lisbon and bought 3 victory medals (this is one of them which is pictured on my website) before the buildings were destroyed by fire. Even if it's different (mainly wire loop suspension) from that presented by Laslo as Butuller replacement medal / unofficial type 1, it's really a Butuller production and so, I classified this medal as Laslo. This means that Butuller firm sold several productions of this medal with some differences... Butuller firm has manufactured all medals that sold in the 80's? I don't know.CheersMarne0

Hi there
Many thanks for your reply. Great information.
Now all I have to do is find out which grade(s) were awarded to Nerw Zealanders, and then where is the best place to obtain one !
G.
Hello Gongz,
If you have the list of New-Zealanders who received this WWI medal, I can search the detail of awards...

The only one of these I haven't seen at least once is the Greek unofficial type 2. I missed out on the other three when I saw them, but am holding out hope that someone will have an extra for trade, since the Riemer Belgian is also quite rare.
Hi David,
I'm sorry, but the Riemer Belgian is common...

Interesting thread on a Chinese WWI commemorative medal in the China forum. According to one of our experts, Lambert, a very rare piece.
Have a look: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/62667-chinese-1914-1918-medal/#entry590053
Hi,
It's easier to go to to the source on my website... http://www.medailles1914-1918.fr/chineaccueilmeda.html
Find a ribbon for this medal is almost impossible...

Do you mean the veteran's cross with the blue ribbon or the post war campaign medal?
Hi,
Yes, it's the veteran's cross with blue ribbon... I have 2 of these medals with 2 maker's marks and some differences in the manufacturing.

Good Morning to Pierre-Yves, thanks for the information
I do not stray out of my theater of collecting so I am clueless on foreign awards. I checked your posted web site and found out:
a) On the obverse, the main differences lie in the face, foliage and especially the lack of signature of the engraver on the American model.
b)The reverse, also the leaves, the main difference on the U.S. model is the inscription in relief (not hollow) "GREAT WAR 1914-1918". Furthermore, no maker's mark is present. That is cool to know.
Armed with information I ask, is this medal group worth the $320 USD?
Also I ask is this medal from Geo. W. Studley, as I see in his catalog he did sell this medal and these medal as well St Mihiel, Chateau-Thierry and the Verdun. Which were all unofficial issues.
I enclose a photo of his medals. George states, he has all the needed ribbon for any medal purchased.
Regards Jim
Hi Jim,
Many many thanks for the scan of this catalog!!! Could you provide me a scan (200 dpi) of these 2 pages for my website? It's a great information for french medals, even unofficial, manufactured in USA... For the price of the group, for me it's too expensive, especially as winner probably bought the lot for US Victory...
Besides, hello to Rob!

Not sure which medal?
Hi,
This group of three medals consists of US Victory (with an absurd combination of clasps, therefore without interest...) but with an interesting French WWI medal made in USA (you can go to my website for informations http://www.medailles1914-1918.fr/france-commemora.html) and a FIDAC medal (I think also of US manufacture).

This is insane!
The ribbon is repro- type used by "a known" after market venter.
The Overseas clasp is an Army style clasp repro not a - Navy style.
England clasp is from an Army original from what i can see.
France clasps is a known French made Army style repro.
The Transport is an original mint "Late" issue clasp.
And it has seven hours to go until it ends and it is up to $320 USD or 207 GBP "insane".

Hi,
The most interesting medal of this lot was the French WWI medal, because it was an US manufacture...

Hi,
Hi Bill!
This is not an official type 1. Suspension look original
None PAUL DUBOIS on the obverse.
On the reverse there is no «LA» and «R».
Diameter 36.8 mm, thickness 2.7 mm. Czech tape.
oliver860
It's not at all a Czech model but a belgian model made more recently (making less detailed and some of them have a varnish finish).
Here, three models of my collect:

Hi to all, especially Rob and Jean-Michel
I never posted on this section but some of you know my website http://www.medailles1914-1918.fr/
I collect all WWI medals for a long time ago and I stand in this topic because I'm astonished by this group:
The finding of document groups, to go with the actual medals, is quite difficult when it comes to Japanese awards.
One needs to be very circumspect when obtaining Japanese groups as you can never be sure if the documents you have are all the recipient was entitled to.
In the case of the group of documents that the linked post mentions, there were:
1914-15 Tsingtao War Dispatch Medal document (Dated November 7, 1915)
1914-20 Siberia War Dispatch Medal document. (Dated December 15, 1919)
1920 WW1 War Victory Medal document. (Dated December 15, 1919)Regards,
RobIndeed, according to several authors, I though it was not possible to obtain 1914-1915 medal and 1914-1920 medal. If this veteran received these two medals, it's a "scoop". I hope to post more often...

Thank you Andreas,
This brooch / badge ??? was in an old and "big" french collect connected with the Great War and sold with kriegerehrenzeichen in eisen from Hesse in an auction (two items sold as regimental insignia...). It's the reason why I search to know what is this badge...
