Thank you.
I would like to know the year this photo was taken. He doesn't seem to be wearing shoulder boards
but there is a heavy seam on the shoulders of his jacket. He is also wearing a LW overseas cap, was this a common practice?

From an Inf. Rgt. 154 album. Photo showing an MG34 position in a forest on the Leningrad front.
Top photo shows the men are relaxed, the sun is low on the horizon.
Bottom photo: Alarm!! Men are now on high alert, helmets on and weapons ready. They peer into the sun, a likely direction that the enemy would attack from.
Men are on the move behind them.

I recently bought a large 2 Panzer Division photo lot which included these two photos of PAK being towed with ropes and straps similar to the ones Eric posted. The photos were taken in Greece in 1941.
