The Strauss family, from Danzig (c. 1935)
Great photos guys.
I especially like photos showing "schmiss" (duelling scars) which were worn with pride.
Cheers,
Larry

I though I would share a couple of photos in this great thread. Portraits from this organisation are hard to find.

Hi Paul,
That is a very nice tab and award document, thanks for sharing them with us. Would you agree that the gothic letters on the tab in my photo are "SC?"
Interestingly a WS Dienstellausweiss posted over at WA forum shows a WS man with the exact same letters on his tabs.
The Feldpost number typed on the document denotes Fliegerhorstkommandantur A 201/XII which according to Lexicon der Wehrmacht was an airfield established in October 1942 in South-Villecoublay, France.
So my WS man was a civilian guard of some sort at an airfield in France? What would he be guarding? Any ideas?

Details of Werkschutz cap and badge.

Hi,
Here is a Werkschutz portrait. I have seen documentation at another forum with a photo of a person with the same letters on his collar.
If I remember correctly he was based in Paris.

Hi Paul,
You start some really nice threads and I often find myself looking through my collection for something to contribute.
How about something similar like Werkschutz (factory/plant protection police). I have a nice portrait that I can contribute.

Hello readers.
My guess and it is only a guess is that this K.M. sailor was transferred or drafted from the Merchant Marine into the navy.
As a merchant mariner he was of course at liberty to have tattoos applied.
I would doubt the K.M. rejecting him from service because of tattoos.

I agree, most likely ex- Merchant Marine.

Thanks.
I had heard of KM sailors with tattoos but had never seen a photo of one. Same with Heer soldiers.
I coloured the photo to show approximately what it may have looked like.

Thanks Edgar for the great information. The badge he wears has been described as a NSRL Watersport badge. I cannot find anything similar on the internet.
Can you or someone else confirm this.

Believe it or not I have had a few negative comments about colouring photos. I have been told they should be left B&W.
I think colourising photos brings life to them, gives a sense of how things really looked in those days.
Here is a Flak soldier and wife from my wedding portrait collection.

Nicely done Alex.
I also colour photos for a hobby. I have coloured photos for several books but mainly colour for the fun of it.
Here is a photo from my private collection. A MG34 nest somewhere in Russia with one soldier holding a Mosin Nagant rifle in his left hand.

Here is a nice TeNo Einsatztruppe portrait. Note his field pack and helmet on the fence behind him.

Nice album! I have a couple of medic/sanitats albums in my collection. Do you know what unit he served with?
I also have an album which contains several similar snow woman photos.
