    1. Thanks for your input everyone I have found out this item is a Surveyors Table Top Level. Cheers
    2. Thanks for that MM, it provides me with further direction in which to investigate. Your input is appreciated.
    3. I should have said the D D has the Defence arrow inserted between them...and the device has a small ball bearing which when pressed fixes the arms in a set position.
    4. I would appreciate advice on what this item is please. It comes in a neat box, Is marked on side: MARK 11 D D 1943 and is approximately 15 cm long. I purchased it with a lot of items here in Australia so it may well be Australian or British, many items were certainly used by bboth services for sure. Thank you in anticipation.
    5. Thanks for that Kevin I am most appreciative of all the help provided.
    6. Nice one Pike, you can have the rest of the day/night off, I am pretty happy all round now as the condition is Very Good as is the case....I thank you all for being so helpful. Kindest Regards
    7. Pike, I paid $130 Australian for this item but was particularly impressed with the Maker's name, date and the defence arrow of course along with the very nice leather pouch. I have searched relatively extensively R J Hopgood and they certainly made sights and compasses for sure but I cannot locate this actual item and the seller had no idea either. Thanks for your input.
    8. Maybe someone can give me an indication of what this item is please? You can see the make's name R J Hopgood, the date 1916 and the Defence Arrow. I picked it up this weekend at a local Antique Fair here in Australia along with a very nice Leather pouch which is also dated and maker named
