I will start a list of common abreviations that we take for granted when talking about many of these pieces. I'm sure "The Evil One" will add to it!
Common Terms
Mecklenburg-Schwerin
MG = Griffin Order with class numbers
MMV = Friedrich Franz Cross (1 = 1st Class, 2 = 2nd Class)
MMV = Militärverdienstkreuz (Military merit cross)
MFFK = Friedrich Franz Kreuz für Heimatverdienst 1917 (Friedrich Franz cross for home merit 1917)
MMV and MFFK are totally different!!!!

Thanks, Seeheld. If you like I can send you scans and you can post them for me.
Hi Vince,
here is the very nice bar. I believe also that this was a prussian Lakai.

And now the entry with all his decorations in 1882 (mecklenburgian Staatskalender). But here he is listed with his second given name Friedrich.

Here is the entry from the mecklenburgian Staatskalender 1867
In 1867 he had only the MVK 2nd class (black cross), Baden campain medal (BM) and the Long Service Cross (2nd class) for 20 years.

Hello Steve,
this is a very nice collection.
I think we have to transfer some bars to my collection...
Could you show us the bars one by one?
Best regards

Wild Card,
you are right. The crown looks really bavarian. And in Bavaria was no official maker situated. The quality is also on a lower level...

I know the bar is in a very bad condition, but she was a long time in an old cellar. During rebuilding of this old house some workers found the very rare bar in a secret place...

Hello Gents,
today I want to show you my newest medalbar. Today I'm so happy...
After 5 min I foud the name. Feldwebel Heinrich Frahm was a soldier in the Großherzoglich Mecklenburgisches Grenadier-Regiment Nr.89. He was a combatant in 1848 in Denmark and 1849 in Baden. During this 2 campains he got his MVK 1848, but later he lost this decoration during a manoeuvre in 1851. His Commander ordered a new one for him, but the militair departement was sending a MVK 1849. At this time was no other MVK 1848 available. In 1849 he got the baden camapain medal as one of fifty mecklenburgian combatants, which are arwarded with this medal. In 1879 he was arwarded with the mecklenburgian campain medal for the 1848/49 campains. Only a few ex soldiers, which 30 years later are still alive, have been decorated. At this time he quited his duty in the army and was already working for the mecklenburgian gouvernement as Rentereibote. And at last for his retire from the gouvernement he got his highest decoration the silver medal "Für den redlichen Manne und den guten Bürger". For his long time service in the mecklenburgian Army he got the long service cross 2. class for 20 years.

The MVK 2. class from Mecklenburg-Schwerin is an original.
And for information only: 'Your Backside' (FÜR AUSZEICHNUNG IM KRIEGE) is the Frontside. Mostly on medalbars is the MVK wrong mounted.

Rick, I know everybody is doing his best. Maybe we will find the real name in some years. Our rolls are coming bigger and bigger...
Thanks to all

PS If there is a date before May 1917, then hopefully Frank will have his entry from the Mecklenburg-Schwerin roll entered?
I'm sorry, but I can't find him in my rolls. He received his MVK 2. class after May 1917.
