Hi Dave,
Thanks for the extra career info! His EKII was announced in the Hamburger Anzeiger on 31st Dec 1915, and his EKI appeared in the Hamburgischer Correspondent on 29th Oct 1917. I haven't found the HH notification yet...

Hi GdC26,
Yes thanks - it mentions 4 years service as Enhrenritter before being entitled to become a Rechtsritter. If Ian doesn't mind my hijacking his thread, I am going to post a rather grainy photo of an aviator who is wearing the Johanniter orden. Unfortunately I don't know his name, but as it's an uncommon award I am hoping that he can be identified. The man is probably from FFA 19.0 -
Hi all, Did you need to have the Ehrenritter before becoming eligible for the Rechtsritter?

Would anyone like to take a punt at the name? Because I'm stumped!

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for your reply.Hi David,
I'm not sure. But the man's name should give the answer providing it can be deciphered.0 -

Hi Dave,
Nice explanation and photo. Do you know if the 1914-1918 Bavarian Verordnungsblatt are available to view online?
Matt.
