    1. Thanks, Chris! I am lucky to have an extensive collection of this gentleman's medals, paperwork, insignia and even some equipment. All thanks to his great-grand daughter!
    2. Thought I'd run this one up the flagpole. More pics...
    3. good question, Chris. The Centre de documentation historique de la Légion étrangère at the Legion museum may have something on him. It's interesting that he was an Attaché to the French military government in occupied Germany. Quite a colorful guy!
    4. better pics of some of the docs... his wife's documents...
    5. wow! Excellent background! Thanks for the detail!

    7. sub-Lieutenant of cavalry?? Would make sense in 1er REC!
    8. indeed, usually we're lucky to get one with 3" of original ribbon!
    9. well, it's as issued, the full length ribbon is fairly nice, original pin is there and the cross itself has a very pleasing appearance - nicely toned, etc. Guess it all adds up to the kind of cross that you just don't bump into anymore. :)
    10. will post all additional acquisitions! I was wondering what the long silver embroidered cloth bar is. Any idea?
    11. thanks, Chris! The leading edge of the first character appears to be straight. That's why I assumed a B. Might be a H too, I suppose.
    12. have owned quite a number of '14 EK 2's over the years, but this one's my favorite. Left portion of the marking is a bit obscure, but appears to be BD800.
    13. no problem.... some paperwork... he was in the mechanized Autonomous Group of 1er REC in North Africa, then occupation of Germany, then Vietnam. All material was obtained from his great-granddaughter. There is more material that is being gathered, hopefully the two missing medals and some diplomas will be found....
    14. Ah, that's what I call conclusive! The badge came along with an interesting Legion vet's group, but fits well within the scope of the other items! Thanks Irish...
    15. Hi All, Am looking to conclusively identify this badge. Have heard "legion in Algeria" but just don't know for sure. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
    16. thanks, Chris! That looks like it!
    17. thanks, Chris. Thought it might be tank troops, but could not find this exact example searching the web.
    18. Hello All, Was wondering if someone could provide an ID on this particular helmet? Thanks in advance!
    19. Hi Chip. No, it's a upper case 'F'. Stamped a space or two away from the 'R'. Somebody on another forum mentioned the F might be for a field telephone unit. Will try to get a good pic....
    20. Hello All, I recently acquired a nice OR's leather belt. It is stamp marked as follows: 68R F Is this a unit marking or is it size related?? Thanks!
    21. Hello guys, Have still not been able to located this ribbon. All suggested sources have come up empty. Any other advice?
    22. Hello All, I was lucky enough to find one of these medals. Sadly, the ribbon is long gone. Any idea where I might find a replacement? Thanks in advance! Mark ~
    23. Hi Marcin, Actually, this is the first Militarpass for me. I generally don't do documents and have turned down opportunities to own them in the past, but this one seemed too nice to let pass by. Regards, Mark ~
