Thanks, Chris! I am lucky to have an extensive collection of this gentleman's medals, paperwork, insignia and even some equipment. All thanks to his great-grand daughter!

good question, Chris. The Centre de documentation historique de la Légion étrangère at the Legion museum may have something on him. It's interesting that he was an Attaché to the French military government in occupied Germany. Quite a colorful guy!

wow! Excellent background! Thanks for the detail!

Interesting... can you elucidate on Dillenius' unique cores?
-
sub-Lieutenant of cavalry?? Would make sense in 1er REC!
-
indeed, usually we're lucky to get one with 3" of original ribbon!
-
well, it's as issued, the full length ribbon is fairly nice, original pin is there and the cross itself has a very pleasing appearance - nicely toned, etc. Guess it all adds up to the kind of cross that you just don't bump into anymore. :)

will post all additional acquisitions! I was wondering what the long silver embroidered cloth bar is. Any idea?
-
thanks, Chris! The leading edge of the first character appears to be straight. That's why I assumed a B. Might be a H too, I suppose.

have owned quite a number of '14 EK 2's over the years, but this one's my favorite. Left portion of the marking is a bit obscure, but appears to be BD800.

no problem.... some paperwork... he was in the mechanized Autonomous Group of 1er REC in North Africa, then occupation of Germany, then Vietnam. All material was obtained from his great-granddaughter. There is more material that is being gathered, hopefully the two missing medals and some diplomas will be found....

Ah, that's what I call conclusive! The badge came along with an interesting Legion vet's group, but fits well within the scope of the other items! Thanks Irish...

Hi All, Am looking to conclusively identify this badge. Have heard "legion in Algeria" but just don't know for sure. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
-
thanks, Chris! That looks like it!

thanks, Chris. Thought it might be tank troops, but could not find this exact example searching the web.

Hello All, Was wondering if someone could provide an ID on this particular helmet? Thanks in advance!
