    1. I'm sorry, I already asked Hendrik by pm to remove my posts here.
    2. He was with the Herefordschire regiment. He earned it during a river crossing,
    3. A veteran friend of mine has the following decorations: Military Cross 1939/1945 Star France and Germany Star Defence Medal War Medal 1939/1945 General Service Medal 1918/1962 ( Canal Zone ) General Service Medal 1962 ( Borneo ) Chevelier De L?Orde De Leopold II avec palme - Belgium Croix De Guerre 1940 avec palme - France Because he travels a lot he would like to insure them. What would a good value be? Does he need to look at the replacement price of at the collecting price?
    4. Thank you Ed for that interesting site. I didn't know that one. I couldn't find that "Landwacht" Ribbon but I have bookmarked that site!
    5. Hendrik, I have a strange shapped belgium medal with a black and white ribbon. I was told that this was a "Landwacht" medal. Do you know this medal? And what would it be worth?
    6. I have just send a letter to the Chancellery of France with a request for information....
    7. Thank you Mike for the information on the Black Star of Benin. Is it possible to get information about recipients in France? I think that the combination of awards is unique but I can not think of a way to trace this person.
    8. Thank you for that information, I think that this bar is of a civilian because the medals and decorations are hanging in a civilian way. Not in the Prussian style introduced in the Dutch army by Prince Hendrik van Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau is also a civilian type. The Mobilization cross 1914-1918 was probably earned during his mobilization, because the lack of Long service medals I think that he left the army after his mobilization. If he was 18/20 when he was mobilized that he would have earned the other decorations between 1918 and 1940.. Could a civilian receive the Order of the Star of Benin? And was it only awarded during WWI? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I am completely new at this.
    9. Gentleman, I have bought a Dutch medalbar with the following decorations: Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau without swords Mobilization cross 1914-1918 Officer in the Order of the Star of Benin Officer in the Order of the Crown of Thailand I will post a picture tomorrow. I have emailed the Chancellery of Thailand and Benin. I only got a reply from Thailand that they cannot give me information about recipients. I also wrote a letter to the Dutch Chancellery but I do not expect to receive information there. I think that this was the bar of a diplomat. Does anyone have an idea how to trace this person? Or is it impossible? I do not now if there is information in France about decorations from Benin?
    10. Thanks for identifying this decoration.
    11. In the photoalbum of this website: http://www.leudalmonument.nl/ > Welkom > Fotoboek > photo top right Is a Dutch general wearing a French Nek order. Any idea what it is?
    12. Very nice to see that a veteran is so proud of his Dutch Thank you Britain/ Thank you Liberator medal that he will wear it together with his other awards. I was in one of the comite's that awarded these medals and that looked after the veterans for a week. It is not an official awards so I don't know if they are really allowed to wear them in this way.
