    1. Can't speak for the Navy aboard ships, I would think it would be the same...it was 12 months exactly (one tour) for in-country assigned. It was not considered a hardship tour as Korea was (13 months) but was a combat tour of one year. One could ask for additional time. One received a 30 day paid trip to anywhere in the free world for extending their tour by 6 months (per extension) and there was 15 days travel allowance added on. If you were a career soldier/sailor, you didn't get off with just one tour.
    2. 106R (regiment)not Reserve. Hard to determine what was in the minds of armorers when marking their equipment but with the marking along with the date and from my books, my opinion is 106 Regiment.
    3. Well, if you head back over, two Medals of Honor is now available, one you don't see hardly at all.
    4. It was authentic. A MOH you see from time to time but the citation is a bit more scarce. I would have thought also the price could have been a bit more. It sold within minutes. You can acquire a MOH and citation here as a gift when you buy a pack of gum for a few thousand dollars. There is always a loophole.
    5. I wonder if this santitates bunker still exist since it looks to be built with concrete. Lots of heavy fighting around that area.
    6. Thanks Andreas...........I'll repost that page with a bit more photoshop sharpening and see if that helps. Ed
    7. Thanks very much.......I understand he was only in the Chevaulegers for about two months before transferring over the the FussArty? The list of battles are a actual problem and not from the scanning. Hard for me to make out anything. The list is long though. Thanks again.............. Ed

Thanks again...............
    13. That photo card is quite a mystery to me. Dated 1915, the 2nd Bay Land Div wasn't organized until 1917. They wear the uniform of the bay Chevaulegers. Were they in the Chevaulegers and then transferred to the Landwehr and used an old photo card to send home? Maybe this is in the text.
    14. Tammy arrived today with my brand new scanner, God bless her for coming a day early. She said she couldn't wait. So, she is resting and I have installed the CD and I'm ready to go. First I want to post what I received today also, acquired from my tip jar. Translation is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ed
    15. Was it Jack Johnson, the boxer, who's name was given to certain German artillery? He had quite a boxing career beating the Cornish Boxer Fitzimmons in 1907. Fitzsimmons was also a world champion with a great career.
    16. P08 Luger which is why I questioned being a Jager, at least he has a P08 holster on. Could be a photo prop. Privates didn't get them unless he was a MG, Telegraph or Sanitates.
