    1. The maker mark on all three veteran's crosses is Fleck & Sohn Hamburg 3
    2. As Stogieman has noted it is suspected this fellow wasn't on active duty very long. Perhaps the act of insane bravery that earned this medal also produced wounds serious enough for him to be discharged.
    3. Let's try this again...a close up showing the gilt wear.
    4. Here is an example with the swords attached directly to the cross. I don't know if this is an earlier or later variation...
    5. Nothing rare or fantastic. Just nice with the veteran's crosses verboten after 1935.
    6. Rick, I note that the safety pin is not maker marked. Do you think it could be a fake?
    7. This little group has recently entered my collection. It is basically a one medal display but what a medal! Here is the group and some close ups.
    8. ...and the FEDEX magic is wrought. A closer look at the chiffres of the WF3bx indicate the finish is gilt. Heavy gilt but gilt not gold. The crown of the above the royal cypher on the obverse has had the finish worn from contact with the KVK2x. The picture also shows the direct attachment of the swords and the burnishing from contact with the reverse of the KVK2x.
    9. It's a very nice cross, Ralph. Thanks for displaying it.
    10. Great! Something to look forward to along with increased activity in the Imperial Awards Forum.
    11. Christian, check out the bar to Generalleutnant Weidinger in the Research Forum. He was a WWII retread and Inspector of Army Flak Troops for OKH. He also had a KVK2x as highest award for the war.
    12. I'll bet the from the ribbon pattern that the one on the left is the Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm. I have no clue for the one on the right.
