I paid 400 RON, down from 800. It is about 130 US which is the same I paid for the Indian Volunteer Forces Medal Group named to CAPT. A. Peebles, located in the Great Britain: Medals of the British Empire, Honours and Awards forum. The seller had a few more Spanish awards, but I was tapped out after the 400 RON. I will go back this weekend and see if it is still there. Passed on a really nice WW1/2 Italian miniature medal group the intervening weekend between the British and Spanish medal groups.

Picked this up over the weekend in Bucharest. Second time in as many weeks I've picked up a medal group which I know nothing about.

I picked up this Medal Group this weekend in Bucharest, Romania, at what essentially amounts to a Spring Festival. I am curious why there wouldn't be a Victory Medal as part of the group and/or any other thoughts about this purchase. I don't normally collect medals of the British Empire since I don't know much about them, so any help would be appreciated.

Yugoslavia Yugoslavian Partisan Stars

Tim - I have also bought from the seller on a few occassions and found him to be reliable. One item took an unusually long time to arrive and he refunded my money until it arrived. I don't think you will have any problems - just be patient since it is coming direct from Serbia. -
Hey, I work for the Dept of STATE and this medal is no longer being issued, nor is the Superior Honor Award which is one level above this award. It would be hard to truely correlate this to the military system of awards because STATE only has a handful of honor awards: Valor/Heroism, Thomas Jefferson Star ( serious/grievous wounds), Distinguished Honor Award, Superior Honor Award and then the MHA. The OMSA article mentioned earlier is excellent. It is also worth mentioning that GEN Petraeus can be seen wearing a Superior Honor Award on his ribbon rack just below his last personal award and prior to his campaign/service awards. The STATE medals are actually fairly difficult to find nowadays. It is a nice set and definately within the last 20 years or so...

Lorenzo, forgot to mention that sometimes the various academy badges came with/without the star...can't really tell from your pic. I pulled this photo off the net as almost all of my stuff is packed away. Enjoy, Paul

Lorenzo - not sure if anyone ever told you or not, but the unknown to you badge is a Yugoslavian Air Force Technical Academy badge. Regards and love the collection!

Emmanuel - thanks for the information about the medal. I will hold onto it for the time being, but if I decide to sell I will let you know. This was one of the few medals that I came across more than once, but I think I only bought the one. Regards, Paul

Iver - very good information. My 1st class is number 865...I will post pics once I remember how to downsize them - I haven't posted pics in a long time. I found it in a little shop in Vienna while I was working in Bratislava and got it for about 130 Euro when the Euro/Dollar exchange was still somewhat decent. I found the boxed 2nd class online at VicMart. I was hoping to find one in Bratislava and then the one online was sold - I was very bummed. Anyway, I'll try and get the pic posted. -

Iver - Yes, I am looking for the Slovak National Uprising II cased...I've seen a few uncased examples before. Definately let me know if you find a cased example. I've only seen a few ribbon bars on the internet before. Do you know how many of the Slovak National Uprising 1st class medals were issued? Is it hard to find/rare?
