      Thanks for the info Vaughn,the only mark on the blade is that which you can see in pic 5,it seems to be stamped letters inside a six pointed star but its too faded to make out what it is.The sword knot is faded red and gold.Would you know how much this sword is worth?

      Guys,I've had this sword for over thirty years now and thought it was high time I found out what exactly it is so any info you can give would be appreciated, age,service,value (if any ) etc,I know its victorian but thats about it,It came with the sword knot by the way,cheers, Paul

      I've always believed this to be a zinc schwerin,it has many of the same characteristics of the tombac badge and the hardware on the back is identical to that found on other schwerin zinc naval badges including the first pattern u-boat clasp,cheers, Paul
