    1. I think that will do for tonight. I have several documents that follow Pauls later history ...up to his 70th birthday. I f there is any interest I will post further scans tomorrow. This is just the start of my research into Paul Steins background and history. I am sure, that given time I will find out more about his background and miliatry history.
    2. Strangly his next award was the Austrian Militar Verdienstkreuz mit Kriegsdekoration on the 08. 01. 1915.
    3. Now we're getting nearer to the nitty gritty of Pauls service. He was awarded the 1st class landwehr Long service award on the 08.09.1914.
    4. Thanks Rick and ccj, As promised, via my New Epson Scanner, are Herr Steins award documents. Starting back into his early service career. He was born 05.02.1874. The earliest document I have for him is 1901. It's one that I'm struggling to understand, so Rick if you can help I would be grateful.
    5. The group of his award documents came with the Regimental History for the 47th Reserve Feldartillerie Regiment. Here's the introductory page.
    6. Here's a small document collection that I've managed to gather to a Reserve Feldartillerie Hauptmann that was the 47th Reserve Feldartillerie Regiments Adjutant. A few pictures of him and his young family taken in 1917 before I post his award documents and later history. His name was Paul Stein. Here's the start ..a few pictures of him.
    7. Thanks Gerd and Stogie, I would just love to know who this bar was owned by. It's got to be the rarest in my collection. Unfortunatly I just don't have the skills and knowledge of our Rick to be able to do any more .... I'm in HIS hands on this one.
    8. Thank you gents. I had the feeling that this little gem MUST at some time have passed through your hands Stogie Rick, when I first saw the bar I didn't realise how relatively few awards in this combination had been awarded, but after a little searching it started to dawn on me Now when did you say those Mecklenburg rolls are going to be available.
    9. This lovely little pair just happened to drop onto my door mat this morning. I believe only about 1087 awards with the 1914 bar were awarded of the Saxe-Altenburg silver Duke Ernst medal. Combining this with the Mecklenburg "Friedrich Franz-Kreuz" has even narrowed the number who would have been awarded this pair. Can anybody put a name to these???
    10. Here he is again, our dear friend George1990 with yet another "superb" bar. When will the buyers learn????? 3 bids on it already. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GERMAN-OFFICERS-WW1-...1QQcmdZViewItem
    11. IMPERIAL QUEST, Did you read what I siad ... Pictures could be the problem??????? I also said that going on these pictures I would not buy this badge as described. All I'm saying is ... If you want to say accept it ..then it's your choise. BUT NOT FOR ME. I have, what I know to be, true Period Junckers pilot and observers badges and I will only buy on the things that I know. Go ahead ... take a chance, if you want to. But NOT FOR ME.
    12. Agree 100% with Stogie . The quality does not seem to be right for this manufacturer. But poor photo's may be the cause of concern as well. In MHO if somebody wants to splash out that sort of money on something that may not be what it seems .... Then go ahead. I for one would NOT buy this piece.
    13. Tom, Thanks for that. It's so hard to work this sort of thing out and be fair to seller. Guess I'm just too much of an honest guy
    14. Rick, You are 100% right ... history is what counts and overall I think this grouping is one that deserves preserving and valuing as history together .... before somebody splits it up in order to make a profit. I have the chance to do that ... and I want to make a fair offer in view of the background. So I will do my beat to retain the group as one. My thanks to you all for your imput ... believe me, it's valued Cheer's, Mike
