    1. Graham and Stuart, Would you like me to make an enlargement in high resolution of the belt and upper part of the chest? Eduardo
    2. O.K. Here is a new scan of the granade. I have made it as high resolution as possible in my scanner. Not much better that the previous. Eduardo
    3. Good if Graham and hopefully others are not finish. That way we will live the joy of more inteligent questions, opinions, and discusions. What hapened to the "5"? Eduardo
    4. Hello Stuart, I am a historian and for a long time, and several books, my speciality was Early coinage of Peru and South America. I am enjoying this forum very much and am glad the pictures of "my" two soldiers have arroused so much exchange of info. I understand your craze for the reference books. When you become more interested in the documentation than in the objects themselves, you have become part of the subject. Congratulations. You say: "where does this leave us with Eduardo's man?" I think he has completed his task. He has been the motor of discussion. Eduardo
    5. Thanks Rick. I will put the information in my blog. Not much, but as you say the picture is blury. The three men are a detail in the postcard. Here I enclose to complete card so you can see. Eduardo
    6. Thankyou Peter, Ralph and Chairman for the info, and a special thanks to Ed for re directing this post to the proper place. I have two other British medalions which I will present to hear your opinion. Eduardo
    7. This 77.4mm. medalion of Queen Victoria indicates, in its reverse, the word "In Commemoration". Could someone plese tell me what is it commemorating? Eduardo
    8. In one of my postcards of Hattonchatel, these three officers are standing by the ruins near the church. The officer in the center has a medal. Is it possible to know more about them? The postcard was printed by: Kunst- a. Verlagssanstal Schaar & Dathe, Komm. -Ges. a. Akt., Frier. Eduardo
    9. Wonderfull photograph Stuart. Thanks for posting it. It is so vivid. Yes I can see the two photos I have had been in the center of discusion for several days. I think they should not stay in the box with the out of collection material and that is why I would not mind of sending them to a person who would house them properly. If I can get postcards for my collection the better but even if not I guess things should be in the place where they are taken care of. Is it possible to see the photos of your publisher friend? It has to be a fantastic collection. Eduardo PS. No way to get that magazine here.
    10. Graham and Stuart, You realy amase me with your knowledge. As I mentioned, those two Carte de Visite are not part of my collection. They came with CDV of Peruvian oficers and presidents I have, so if someone wants to change them maybe for WWI postcards I will be glad to do it. Eduardo PS. Although too far from the interest of this forum, if you want to see my presidents, oficers and heroes, have a look here. http://www.personajesperu.blogspot.com/ http://www.otrospersonajes.blogspot.com/
    11. Thank you Jerome, I don't have any more European CDV, those are the only ones although I think I might have another one which I have to look for. I have CDV collection of Peruvian military men (mainly heroes and presidents) but guess they are to far away in this forum. I have enjoyed your Hussars page. Will have to spend some more time on it. Will check if some of my Peruvians are Hussars. Eduardo
    12. Thank you Jerome for the two posts in both my pictures. I am at the university right now in a break but will be back home pretty soon and will send a proper answer. Eduardo
    13. A Greman soldier in a dark horse. It seems there is no saddle on the horse.
    14. Here I am adding two scans of details of the previous photograph to help in the ientification. Eduardo
    15. I have this other Carte de Visite this time it is a Naval oficer. The photograph was taken in Kingston, Jamaica sometime arround the 1860's. Eduardo
    16. Thanks Stuart. Your explanation of the details helps very much already. I have enlarged the granade as much as I can. Eduardo
    17. You are right Chip. It seems there is no saddle on that horse. Thanks a lot for the info. I am really learning very much in this forum with your help and that of other members. Eduardo
    18. O.K. Chip. Thanks for the info about the back. Here I am posting an enlargement to see if you can get anything out of it. Eduardo
    19. Thank you Stuart and Ulsterman for your answers. I will make some enlargements of the head, the chest and belt area to see if that helps. Eduardo
    20. A very interesting postcard. Congratulations. I gues Kodak made them for colectors. Had not seen anything like it before. Eduardo
    21. This soldier is in a dark horse. Is it possible to know something about him or his unit? The writting in the back of the card is fairly clear but I don't read German. Eduardo
    22. A group of soldiers by a mill. The postal stamp in the back reads: "Armierungs Batallion 103 - 1 Kompagn..." These were labor battalions called "Schipper" and were used to dig trenches and the like. Eduardo
    23. Thanks Herdrik for the info. It is not my field of collection either so if anybody wants to exchange it for some WW I post cards I'd be happy. Eduardo
    24. Thank you Dan and Kim. I apreciate your help very much. Eduardo
    25. Among the 1860's photographs I have from peruvian presidentss and officers I found this one which is not part of the collection. Would it be a British soldier? The pic was taken in Liverpool and since it came with others of the 60's I would think it is from about the same time. Eduardo
