    1. It certainly is a very interesting subject!

I assume the same situation, played out with regards the allocation of silver jubilee medals?

One thing that does seem unusual, is the fact that with 2 weeks to go, the powers that be would have us believe that no medal or indeed ribbon has been confirmed, surely something like this would have been created/decided upon years ago??

Also why there is such uncertainty as to the criteria, again it’s not like they didn’t know this event would happen at some point?

There were several similar style badges issued by various UK police forces- usually for acts of bravery where it was not sufficient for something like the KPM, and when the force didn't have a bravery medal to award. Examples are the 1867 Birkenhead BoroughPolice Merit Badge usually awarded for bravery (I don't have an image), and the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Chief Constable's Commendation Star, image attached below. There were likely other similar awards, all of which I would love to collect!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing 👍.

      Wow! At last.... :)

So, major update to my UK section - needless to say at the busiest time of the academic year - to make space for all the medals that will have a King Charles version ready for when they crawl out into public and I can find images that I can use.

      My thoughts exactly!!!!

I understand that this BEM was presented to an old boy, for services to charity. Something along those lines anyway? It was presented to him a few weeks ago now, by all accounts. So with a bit of luck we’ll start seeing more over the coming weeks.

Will be interesting to see if the KPM and LSGC’s will start to be issued in time for them to be worn on Coronation day.

I suppose so. I guess things go wrong sometimes. What is your personal opinion on whether or not they will be issued and the criteria? I think in that press release they more or less said that they will be late, whatever form they will take.

Appears, they’ll be at least 6000, assuming all those present, are to be awarded one?

Are you talking about whether the Coronation medal will be like this? I didnt think we knew if that was going to happen still at this late stage?

Re Coronation Medal, I suspect this will include an effigy of the new Queen.

With regards to LSGC’s, it will be interesting to see, if all now bear a crowned or uncrowned effigy?

Perhaps the plan all along has been to wait until the crowned effigy has confirmed/released, before any new medals were struck?

This would certainly account for the current delay?

    6. As the eternal  wait goes on, conjuncture and speculation about when any new medals with the Kings effigy on will appear, abound.

Talk of existing stocks to be exhausted first , before new ones will be minted.

The Royal Mint not taking any new orders.

One could be forgiven, for thinking it’s all part of a great master plan….

Will the new medals have a crowned or uncrowned effigy?

Could we in fact see both, depending on which service the recipient is from, as with previous LSGC’s?

Could we see recipients between 8th Sept and 6th May uncrowned, and crowned there after??

    7. No design or ribbon has yet surfaced re this new medal, but the criteria certainly makes interesting reading.

In particular section 15 ( in relation to the Elizabeth Cross)..

No order of wear included, in the criteria. But section 15 suggests that it may not in fact be a medal that will be worn alongside other campaign medals, etc?

I thought that in a recent interview it was stated the Charles (being eco friendly etc) wanted all existing stocks (of medals+) to be used before new ones were to be struck?

This has certainly been mooted about. But how true it is, I cannot say.

But what is apparent, is that this certainly isn’t the case with regards, to the military which are set to rebadge next month.

There were some other awards (all in the Royal Victorian Order, which as you probably know, is in the gift of the Monarch rather than going through the political Honours system): The Queen's Dresser, Angela Kelly, becomes a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, as does her page Paul Whybrew and her groom Terence Pendry.

Aircrew involved in the flight of Her Majesty's corpse from Scotland to London were also included, and a couple of Ladies in Waiting were made Dame Commanders of the Royal Victorian Order as well.

The full list is here: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/64008/supplement/D1

      Thanks Megan 👍.

Will be interesting to see whether the RVM’s bear the late Queen’s effigy and cypher, or the King’s.
