    1. The saga continues, with regards to the criteria for the KCM.
Although, “sources” in positions of know, believe that it’s going to be limited to Royal household members, and military personnel directly involved. Estimates of anything between 500-5000 max. Certainly nowhere near, the mass issue of previous jubilee awards. I fear there will be a lot of disappointed people, but at least EBay, won’t be flooded with them……

Smashing group Danny, thanks for sharing!!!!!

In other news, am hearing rumours that the next generation of LSGC’s won’t appear for at least another 12 months!! Not sure of the source or how much credence, to draw from this rumour. But if I’m honest I wouldn’t be at all surprised!

The King appears to be going for simplicity in his official iconography. The new stamps have just been released:

No crown, not on his head or even anywhere on the stamp. It's the same portrait as on what coinage has so far been seem... so it seems likely that it will also be used for medals.

      Interesting, thanks Megan.

Surely medals can’t be much longer now, can they??

    4. Putting all historic delays in the issuing of LSGC’s aside for a moment.

I thought forum members might be of interest to learn, that the Royal Mint are currently not excepting any orders for new LSGC’s.
Just how long that has been in effect and how long it is expected to last, hasn’t been confirmed.

But it doesn’t bold well, if historically there was a standard delay.

Now coupled with this newest delay, which one would assume is due to the changing of effigy, and assumably delays due to Covid.

Just how much of a backlog there was prior to this and just how big this backlog is increasing by, doesn’t bear thinking about……!

    5. Happened across this whilst surfing EBay.

“A copy four medal group, full size, MC Military Cross, GSM with two clasps GULF, NORTHERN IRELAND, Falklands with Rosette and Army LSGC medal, all named except LSGC, MC  named 24062272 WO2 D A STIMPSON RAOC, rank on GSM is CPL.”

Someone has clearly, gone to some expense to create this group?

Is it a copy group of a genuine group, or complete fantasy?

I notice that on the ROH that the entry for a PC John Smith bears just the word "Train" for cause of death. Does anyone know what such a bland statement would mean ?

      Accident/suicide etc ?.

      According to

      https://policememorial.org.uk/memories/john-smith-4/

Killed when run over by a train in a railway tunnel at Wood Green while on his beat at night.

Rumour is same as QPJM but I'm a bit skeptical

More and more rumbles appearing about this being a very limited issue affair….

I was reading on another forum, about the company that make them, expressing concerns that time was moving on if a mass production was to be requested, in order have them produced in time……….

Having said that the Royal Mint are certainly in no hurry to release, any new medals either, so who knows?

Most of the New Year Honours relate to orders whose design doesn't change as the monarch does, it's just BEMs, Royal Victorian Medals and the like which require a new obverse.

Does that mean do you think, that none change awards will be issued at an earlier date than those that require updating?
I’m thinking of the King’s Police, Fire and Ambulance Medals, for example?

Thought this might be of interest?

Of particular interest is this paragraph…

“The Royal Mint is currently in the process of redesigning a number of medals to display the image of King Charles III which could lead to delay for those eligible for a bar.”

I have learned from another platform, that West Midlands Police, are holding ceremony next week, during which 30 year bars will be awarded. Curious that these are available already despite the Royal Mint stating that there will be delays whilst they rectify the redesigning of effigy on a number of medals.

Further to this, would be interested to learn when the New Years honours medals, will be formally presented. I would assume that these medals had been struck prior to there announcement?
