      Curious, isn’t wasn’t it!

I’m sure there must be a reason, as nothing happens by accident in the Royal household!

Apparently, once appointed as a Personal aide-de-camp you can continue to wear the insignia for the rest of your life not the Sovereigns….

You can also wear more then one if appointed by another Sovereign, it appears.

I've read somewhere recently, that King Charles will not be depicted on medals or coins wearing a crown. There has been that much said about him of late that I can't recall where that was stated.

      Dave.

A month on, and as far as I’m aware there have been no further announcements re medals. Although the Royal Mint, have begun striking new 50p pieces which it appears, will be in circulation next month. So assume it won’t be too much longer now on the medals front……….

Feels very strange using KPM and KGM abbreviations. Just not used to it.

Am aware of a couple of forces, that have now changed their badges to C111R and a King’s crown. But as yet there has been no further, developments re medals, which I find strange. Surely plans must have been in place, for what was eventually to be an inevitable situation? Two months on, and no news. Not even with regards to miniature medals.

I wonder when we can expect to see miniature medals, being the King’s effigy?

Thought this might be of interest.

Over the last few days, I have contacted all the main stream, miniature medal suppliers. None of them were able to provide any release dates, for C111R miniature medals.

I fully appreciate that this is an unprecedented situation.

But I would have thought after near 2 months, there would have been some sort of announcement.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting and first example I have seen.

On a side note, someone has changed the Ministry of Defence Police page on Wikipedia to a new logo with CiiR however it has been changed back so I assume this may be 'fan made'? I have not seen anything on Force twitters or facebook announcing they have changed cap badges which would likely be done. The Met would surely be one of the first but this does not seem to have happened yet.

I understand that this is a prototype, yet to be formally authorised. So I guess Gloucestershire are the first?

Accumulated Campaign Service Medal, I suppose...

The first NEW Charles III medal will hopefully be his Coronation Medal.  (Hopefully as anything else suggests the UK gets sucked into someone's war.)

ACSM, yes had forgotten about that one!

Coronation Medal, I guess is a given.

Couldn’t agree more with regards to any subsequent campaign medals, but I fear it is just a matter of time, before the necessity for additional medal(s) comes to pass….

    7. Recently discovered that back in 2012, a new effigy was released on the Colonial LSGC,

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonia ... vice_Medal

“The medal is circular, silver and 36 mm (1.4 in) in diameter. The obverse depicts the effigy of the reigning sovereign surrounded by the royal titles. To date, there have been six types of obverse, the date in brackets showing the year the design was introduced”

Would be interested to see one, in anyone is able to provide if photograph?

On a slightly related topic, it was stated in the latest OMRS journal that Special Constables have now formally been made eligible for award of the Queen's Police Medal (as well as their usual LSGC medal). Presuambly for Gallantry or Distinguished Service- now one of those would be an addition to a collection!!

This obviously really means the to be newly titled 'King's Police Medal' as although the decision has been announced for the QPM as it was, any recommendation for award will obviouly be under CIIIR.

Yes I would imagine the QPM will now become the KPM.

Although I don’t believe it is issued for gallantry anymore, I believe the QGM or indeed KGM is used in that instance.

This is named "774 DPCR LOH KUM WAH."

I cannot come up with any logical explanation for the rank abbreviation. "PC" would seem obvious, if NOT sandwiched between "D" and "R." Something like "District Police Constable Reservist" doesn't sound likely-- but is that possible?

17 years on, can we shine any new light on this medal?

Has anyone come across other example since?

    10. Not physically seen one yet, but did see this update, with regards to the two bars, on the Kent Constabulary website
