The reverse

hi everyone.i just received this Hoffman press-photo.It is of Bernhard Rogge,commander of the Hilfskreuzer Atlantis,Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock,U-96 and Reinhard Suhren,U-564,being awarded their Oakleaves.

I was wondering if someone could kindly translate the type on the reverese of the photo posted below.

Eric,sorry but i do not have a K&Q badge in my collection.Maybe some other members do.When your time permits iwould still like to see photo's of the machinery.When i was a teenager i worked weekends in the Austin motor factory at Longbridge in Birmingham.I worked in the shop where various engine parts were struck.Cam shafts ,etc.I bet the machinery for striking badges was very similar.

Mike,yes very similar indeed.It is known that Juncker made Auxiliary Cruiser badges,Coastal Artillery and U-Boat badges,so why not Minesweeper badges?

Hi Mike,these badges were discussed recently on WAF and the opinions of some members was that they could be unmarked Junckers.The hinge and catch on these minesweeper badges are identical to those on the Juncker Coastal Artillery and Auxiliary Cruiser badges.

The reverse.Sadly the pin is missing.

Reading Gordons book has re kindled my interest in this badge.I've had it for many years and beleive it to be original,although i have had nothing to compare it to exept a couple of photo's from a fellow collector.He was the only other person i knew that owned one of these.There is one illustated in Gordons book on page.77.Iwas wondering if Michel could post it for a comparison.

Here is a tombak badge i used to have in my collection.

Hi Greg,your badge has the typical hardware set-up for Schwerin zinc badges.Giorgios' badge has the set-up found on Schwerin tombak badges.As for the eagle it looks like someone cut the wings off and de-nazified it.

Thanks Mark,just talked to dad back in Enland and he said that he was a Rough Rider and trained the "part-broken" horses,most of which came from Ireland.

[attachmentid=61307]Thanks to all.Yes,he was Royal Artillery from 1914 to his retirement as a warrant Officer just before WW2.I have all his medals from the 1914 Star with Mons Bar to his M.S.M.H e finished his career as gunnery instructor for The Queens Own Worcestershire Hussars.I just found this badge,looks like the type on his sleeve.
