Yeah... I am with Sascha about his comments... also the red flashy backing, like it was put on it yesterday, don't look really it has been in a drawer for 80-90 years. Most bars show moths damage (lightly to very heavy) or at least some wear signs... Of course it would be different if it lied in his original box or case all the time...

Hi Sascha!
Yes, it's a nice one... thank you for the picture of the miniatures. It would be cool to know who has them, because surely they belong to the medal bar. Very, very unusual group with lots of exotic decorations... Too bad, that there aren't rolls for the Schaumburg-Lippe Kreuz für treue Dienste (1914-18)... it was scarcely given, due to the small size of the principality...

I am not sure that it's WWI WM3, but you never know... was it also given during peace time?

Nice bars! Interesting the one of a Württemburg'scher Officer with Ottoman medals and, what I personally like the Oldenburg one with the very nice Berliner dealer label on the back... I have never seen one like this.

Thanks Daniel!
There was also another Otto von Dungern...
born in 1875 and died also very late in 1967!0 -
I have never seen these going for less than 100 EUR, either on shows or being sold by dealers. Weitze should have it and maybe Bretzendorfer as well... Compare the prices on the net, my suggestion.

Here another example... worn on a Tuxedo medal bar (Frackschnalle)... with your ribbon... now I am puzzled which ribbon is correct?

It's also present on Detlev Niemann's Catalogue (Price Guide - Order and decorations of Germany 1871-1945, ISBN 3-934001-04-1) under 2.02.33 Landesverband Württemberg (Württember Regional Association), Kriegserinnerungszeichen (War commemorative cross).
I have seen worn on different ribbons...

Unfortunately, there's no date of death...
There's another Otto von Dungern, but it is not him:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_von_DungernFamily crest of the von Dungern on a castle in Germany (Dehrn an der Lahn): (same family... I am not so sure since Otto was born in Coburg)
http://www.dehrn.net/Burg_und_Schloss/Burg_und_Schloss_Dehrn.htmlIm 19.

Dear Rick,
I am sure you remember this one...
Quite a elusive reserve officer with lots of exotic stuff in the end of his bar and on his Miniaturkettchen, which alas I don't own... but surely he's from the same original wearer...
This won't be so easy to be researched, either, I am afraid...
Best regards,
Claudio

My god, Rick... that has been so quick... don't tell you didn't know before...
Do you think that this combo is quite unique, don't you?
So great to give a name to a bar which has been nameless so long...
Thanks!!!!

Dear Rick!
Incredibly enough this one hasn't been identified yet...
- Preußen, Eisernes Kreuz 1914, 2. Klasse (OEK 1909)
- Preußen, Kgl. Hausorden von Hohenzollern, Kreuz der Ritter (OEK 1789)
- Preußen, Kronen-Orden 4. Klasse (OEK 1762)
- Preußen, Centenarmedaille 1897 (OEK 1965)
- Sachsen-Königreich, Albrechts-Orden Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse (OEK 2205)
- Württemberg, Friedrichs-Orden Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse (OEK 2980)
- Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Greifen-Orden Ritterkreuz (OEK 1296)
- Waldeck, Verdienst-Kreuz Ausgabe 1896-1918, Kreuz 4. Klasse (OEK 2857)
- Kaiserreich Österreich-Ungarn, Militärverdienstkreuz 3. Klasse
Since you came back on this very forum you brought a lot of goodies and identified so many more ribbon and medal bars. It is always great to follow your threads and postings, despite the fact I have so less to add, since you say it all!
Good luck in finding him!
Best regards,
Claudio

Great stuff Rick! I always wanted one of these, but I am still looking... especially the early ones in Gold are so beautiful. I would go for a Leser type of Steck/Offizierskreuz... ;-)

Very nice bar, Sam.... I don't know but I have a feeling I have already seen this bar before somewhere, but many years ago.
Congrats!

Beautiful bar! It should be identifiable... The Hansa trio narrows the research quite a lot plus the Meckemburg's crosses, the rare white falcon and the even rarer reuss cross with swords and crown. Could he possibly be a reserve KM officer?

Hello Jean-Sam,
I find it also strange. My brother, who also collects, doesn't like the bars on the IC. But on the other hand in the 20ies it was pretty much left to anyone initiative to "decorate" their bars as much as possible, especailly if they were members of several veteran groups. Now in this case it's even more strange, because as we all know Paris was never taken by the Germans. Or maybe the veteran wanted to say with that, that he founght on the Marne close to Paris in the early stages of the war.
I only hope that this bar wasn't added later...

NOW... I remember to have seen it before...

No, dear Tilo, in this thread you haven't shown it before... the MVO looks like a JL type... beautiful as well the Chilean and Ottoman orders... Marine officer!? :-)
Very very nice... don't forget to show the reverse...
Ciao,
Claudio

Hi Dave!
Thanks for the additional info on Egon's brother.I always liked your bar... but I think it will be really tough to trace the owner... no LS awards, no FEK (so bar was put together before 1934-35, maybe even earlier)... But the combination is really appealing... Very likely this officer (Reserve most likely) served on the Southern front (Austria and Bulgaria war decorations, although the Bulgarian MVO is on Tapferkeitsband but without the KD wreath). Very, very interesting...
Good luck in finding him! :-)
ciao,Claudio
