Dear forumites,
I'd like to present to newly adquired ribbon bar. The first one, it is named (thanks Christian), the second still unnamed.
Feldspange des Oberst Hensel.
- 1.) Preussen: Eisernes Kreuz, 1914, 2. Klasse;
- 2.) Deutsches Reich: Kriegsverdienstkreuz, 2. Klasse mit Schwertern;
- 3.) Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten;
- 4.) Preussen: Kronenorden, 4. Klasse mit Schwertern;
- 5.) Deutsches Reich: Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer;
- 6.) Preussen: Dienstauszeichnungskreuz für Offi ziere;
- 7.) Roter Adler Orden, 4. Klasse;
- 8.) Zentenarmedaille (1897);
- 9.)Thailand: Der sehr hohe Orden des Weißen Elefanten; graue Rückseitenabdeckung.
1904 war Oberst Hensel im Feldart. Rgt. General-Feldmarschall Graf Waldersee (Schleswigsches) Nr. 9.
May somebody has more information about Oberst Hensel's details in WW2.
Thanks in advance for your interest.

Dear forumites!
Could you identify the maker of this iron cross 2nd class 1914? It has a very fainted mark on the ring, which almost looks like a C that could be a G... Maybe a Godet piece?
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance and advice!
ciao,
Claudio

Very nice bar, Tom! I also have never seen that FEK's maker before, congrats! :cheers:

Interesting thread... my bro got another ribbon bar from the same recipient, but at that time the German dealer (Kalies) didn't sell the documents.

Nos 1359 and 1364 are in my and my brother's collection...
1359 has been positively identified after more than 20 years, see here: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/46676-meet-majorgeneral-der-polizei-hans-daeuwel/

Hi Paul,
I noticed that, too. Check also the items numbers 1949 & 1950. The ribbon bar was sold at that auction and the medal bar remained unsold and was offered in at least 3 or 4 later auctions.

Dear forumites,
I was checking some of my old auction catalogues, when I bought my first medal bars... I still remember the medal bars that I missed because I didn't have enough money or I was "too conservative" to bid higher (prices in Deutsche Mark), like no. 1375...
These are sweet memories... ;-)

Wow! Impressive bar... the HHOX and the BMVO3x look made of Gold! No Centennial medal, strange.... Do you have a picture of the back?

Another Godet medal bar in very conditions, this time for a WWI non-combattant veteran...

easy! http://de.wikipedia....-Ehrenzeichen
That would be very likely the 2nd class (medal).

I don't know why these medal bars were offered together. I should ask HH, but I think that they won't very likely know. Maybe it came as a lot to be sold for a client who had these bars simply in his collection or maybe could be that they came from the same family, but I think this is a bit less probable... two tuxedo bars for civilian being put together at the same time by the same company (Godet) for 2 persons of the same family? I don't think so...

7 placed medal with the rarely seen Italian commemorative medal for the Messina 1908 earthquake... there were quite few German Kriegsmarine naval units involved in the rescue actions after this terrible human tragedy ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1908_Messina_earthquake ). It must have been some sort of reserve officer who ended WWI with a rank of Hauptmann/Kapitänleutnant or even Major. Nice also the nice additions of 2 further "foreign" awards, the Austrian-Hungarian MVK 3rd class and the Liakat Medal (Ottoman Empire).
I don't think it will be so easy finding this officer but maybe not impossible?
Here I am adding my description of the medals:
• Preußen, Eisernes Kreuz 1914, 2. Klasse (OEK 1909), E/S
• Baden, Orden Zähringer der Löwen, RK 2. Klasse mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern (OEK 159)
• Deutsches Reich 1933-45, Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer (OEK 3803/1), Hersteller K M & F (Kallenbach, Meyer & Francke, Luckenwalde)
• Kaiserreich Österreich-Ungarn, Militärverdienstkreuz 3. Klasse
• Osmanisches Reich, Liakat Medaille in silber
• Italien Königreich, Erinnerungsmedaille des Erdbebens in Messina (1908), König Vittorio Emanuele III

My two latest additions.... one medal bar (for civilian tuxedo) came with its miniatures and a Japanese order at the end...
Medal bar:
- Preussen, Eisernes Kreuz 1914, 2. Klasse am Kämpferband (OEK 1909) E/S
- Deutsches Reich 1933-45, Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer (OEK 3803/1), Hersteller Gebr. G & C, Gebrüder Godet und Co., Berlin
- Österreich 1. Republik, 1. Weltkriegs-Erinnerungsmedaille
- Ungarn, 1. Weltkriegs-Erinnerungsmedaille
- Japan, kleiner Orden der Aufgehenden Sonne mit Rosette
Miniatures (7):
- EK 1914 2. Klasse, FEK, Ehrenzeichen des Roten Kreuzes 3. Modell (1937-39), sog. Elefantenorden, österreiche 1. WK-Erinnerungsmedaille, ungarische 1.WK-Erinnerungsmedaille, Japan Orden der Aufgehender Sonne Offizierskreuz

Hi,
It looks really a bit too much used... usually the quality of the strike of these medals were quite good. If I remember correctly, there was a quite detailled article about that on a BDOS magazine (German Association of medals and orders collectors http://www.deutsche-gesellschaft-fuer-ordenskunde.de/vereinsmagazin/magazinuebersicht/ ).

Bravo, bravo!
I have so many questions, but I will limit them.
The Orden Stern von Rumänien mit Krone also has swords. Is that because, he was recognized for a gallantry action in 1909 or is the swords version awarded to military personnel?
Do I understand correctly? Did he earn the Centennial Medal but did not mount it on his medal bar or ribbon bar.
Are the reverses of the medal bar and ribbon bar the expected dark blue felt? Could you please post them?
Are there any more details on his career?
Thank you for showing it.
Hi Claudius!
The Rumanian order with swords which was bestowed on Reymann, as you correctly suggest, was given to military personnel. Yes, he was awarded with the Centennial Medal but he strangely didn't wear it. The backing is very dark blue....
He was the first commander of the SMS Vulcan... http://de.wikipedia....i/SMS_Vulkan I am sure that I can find more information on him.
ciao,
Claudio

Hi Paul,
Here's the scan of HHO3X and a detailled picture of Godet's metallic tag on the reverse.

Oberst Hensel and a new still unnamed ribbon bar
in Germany: Imperial: The Orders, Decorations and Medals of The Imperial German States
Posted
Here's the unnamed ribbon bar; with this combination I think there might be some chances to find the original recipient of this 7-place ribbon bar:
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance!
