Translation of Hokobukuro Bag's Name
100yardsovertherim replied to 100yardsovertherim's topic in Japan
Thank you! -
I finally obtained my first Hokobukuro bag and was wondering if anyone can translate the name of the owner. (It is a bit faded so no worries if it's too far gone for a correct translation.) Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting such a wide array of items. I've just started getting into Cuban items, and your posts have provided a lot of education for me.

Colorful Double-Sided Poster....Origin and purpose?
100yardsovertherim replied to 100yardsovertherim's topic in Japan
Thank you very much for the new info. -
Being a sucker for postal-related items from all combatants during WW2, I found this for purchase and immediately bought it. I know that the design of the letter indicates it is military mail, and it looks like it has a censor stamp on it. However, the actual contents are a mystery. Can anyone give a brief translation? Thank you in advance.

Colorful Double-Sided Poster....Origin and purpose?

Thank you for your help! It is greatly appreciated. -
I've recently acquired this interesting Japanese paper item which I assume is from the 1930's or 1940's. One one side, it has several medals while on the other is a battlefield scene. Also, included on the back side are air insignia of Japan and other world powers. I didn't see any staple holes so I'm inclined to think this wasn't in a book or magazine. However, I'm a bit puzzled as to what was the purpose of the poster since it is dual-sided and what entity printed it. Does anyone have any idea if this was printed by the Japanese government, school system, military, or private publisher and to what purpose? I assume the medals side is to educate on Japanese medals. However, I'm unsure about the battle scene. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Thank you for the prompt response! I would have never guessed the subject matter. Thank you again.

I have this mystery item that I'm hoping someone can help me identify. This item looks like a document of some kind about the size of a postcard, and it came with a portrait photograph of a Japanese army officer. Given the star at the top, I'm assuming that the item is Japanese army-related but that's about as far as my knowledge goes. Can anyone shed any light on what this card/document is? Thank you in advance.

I acquired this mystery shoulder rank and have been unable to get a solid identification for it. I believe it is naval-related and possibly Italian since it came with a confirmed WW2 Italian infantry shoulder rank. The bullion emblem on the board I did find was used by the Italian navy for mine men, but I don't know if other Navies used the same emblem. Is this an Italian Navy shoulder rank and, if so, what time period? Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Iraqi Armed Forces Table Medal?
100yardsovertherim replied to 100yardsovertherim's topic in Middle East & Arab States
Thank you for the information. It's great to know the time frame it was made. (I assumed Saddam period given how crude the item was constructed, but it's a pleasant surprise given I'm starting to collect pre-Saddam Iraqi items.) Thanks again for your help. -
I've had this item for a while and have assumed it to be some kind of award or table medal presented from the Iraqi Armed Forces. It's about 3 inches in diameter. Can anyone identify what it is and what it was presented for?

Indeed. They do have original pieces but have a lot of (being very charitable) questionable items. -
Genuine WW2 Spanish Ration Tickets?
100yardsovertherim replied to 100yardsovertherim's topic in Spain
Thank you for your answer. That does make sense to print things on the back of existing paper products like posters if paper too was rationed. Thanks again. -
Genuine WW2 Spanish Ration Tickets?
100yardsovertherim replied to 100yardsovertherim's topic in Spain
Thank you for your response. Have you seen Cupones like these printed in similar fashion (ie on the back of a poster)? -
I've had this in my collection for a while, but I have wondered if it is a legit piece or if it is a fantasy item. It is supposed to be unused ration tickets from 1941 printed on the back of a poster of General George Custer. Can anyone confirm whether Spain actually used ration coupons like this during the WW2 years? Thanks in advance

I have one other batch of Iraqi items (2 patches and a couple of ID cards) and would like to see if anyone can identify them. The laminated cards supposedly came from around the Baghdad Airport while the patches came in a bunch of Iraqi insignia, Saddam pins, etc. Thank you in advance. And one of the patches. And the other patch

New Iraqi Additions with Questions
100yardsovertherim replied to 100yardsovertherim's topic in Middle East & Arab States
Thank you very much for your help on this. -
I recently obtained a new batch of Iraqi items (some supposedly Desert Storm and others during the 1990's to 2003). Several items I know, but others (a particular patch and some ID cards) are a puzzle to me. Can anyone give me any assistance on these items? Thank you for your help.

I recently found some items that were supposed to be Iraqi leaflets from the Gulf War of 1990-1991. However, these don't look like any leaflets I've seen from the time period used by either the Iraqis or coalition forces. These look to be documents of some sort, but I'm unsure what they could be. Has anyone come across anything like this before? Thank you all in advance for any assistance you can provide.
