Thank you for the information, and I have a question about the construction of the knife. The book ststes that these knifes were nickel plated, but this knife seems to be polished steel. Were these knifes only made with plated nickle alloy? the book is kind of vague in it's description of these knifes. Here is a clearer picture

I listed this Krim shield on a different thread but had no responses. I was wondering which maker could have made this shield? I carefully removed the back plate and wool material but found no maker mark. The only thing I found was some green looking stuff on the shields back in the crevices any help would be appreciated.

I have seen quit a few of these documents out there on auction. With so many of these being fakes how would you tell a original? I know the common sense things to look for but with reproductions being made to look so close to the originals how would someone tell? I sometimes read that the seller claims to have tested the document with a black light. But does this test work on old papers? thanks

Fake dagger?
armybrat43 replied to claudiu's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
They were selling ones like it on Ebay for $19.99, I still see a few now and then. I really get a kick out of the Ww2 slovak officiers daggers they try to pass off. It kinda makes me mad to see these sellers taking advantage of people. But I guess the buyers are partly to blame for not doing thier home work. -
I was wondering if anyone could tell me about what year this knife was made. The knife has a maker mark of two cranes looking at each other then under this is Robt Klauss. Then under the name is what looks like the words gestz and geshutzt.According to the book "Collecting The Edged Weapons Of The Third Riech" by LTC Thomas M Jonson (and this is a direct quote) "It should be noted that the blade motto only appeared on these knives manufactured between 1933 and August 1938". (I had to specify the exact quote due to being flamed on a differnt thread for just giving a quick over view of what I read in a book) So I'am thinking the knife was made in the late 30s but I'am not sure. The knife has also been sharpened more then once. But whoever did the sharpening was careful not to mess up the motto on the blade.

Do you have a website with your collection listed there? And do you have a museum to show off your collection? I have seen more WW2 period uniforms in your bunker then here at our local museum that a retired Major left his collection to. If you don't have a website or museum do you plan on having one?
