I'd be happy to add those to my collection at those prices. Good show!

Dean,
I did find one at the Akron show not Berea. I always thought it was funny having an RC aircraft field directly behind a gun show. Just seemed like AA fire was an eventuality. One of the two in my thread is the one I found there. If memory serves it was the one that doesn't match yours. I dug up a few nice things there.

Thanks! It's good to have a home to come back to.

Dean,
Great little cross. I do not like these (Hindenburgs) as a rule but this version is rare. I own two by different makers. Ralph A. has one also. I turned the first one up a at Summit County gun show for $15! I still like it.
Definitly a smaller cross than the normal one. I'll look for the old thread. It should still be here. Nice obscure find!

I don't have this in my possession. It may go to SOS and I don't want to name the price as I'm not sure if I was given a better price than the public. It is close to what the parts are worth but that's too much for me to tie up right now. I'm still raising kids!

Just a comment - The 1870 bar combination is a bit unusual as the large units that were at Orleans were not at Weissenburg. It could be a staff officer or someone in a position that called for him to move around between units but, it is a bit of a red flag.
Beau, this bar is too much for me not to be 100% on. Maybe I'm passing a good one but I'll be able to sleep!

Seeing these bars always reminds me of Rick, he'd know what to do in a heart beat.
Yes. I miss that guy.

I have not black lighted it. The price is up there so nothing gained if a parts bar. Right now I'll keep my powder dry. If anyone knows this bar or the history of it I would like to know.

Exactly my issue. The parts are there and seem to be good. In hand it is well put together. It just looks so new and the use of the 1/2 sized ribbons. If this were an older trapezoid mount with some age I would love it. Have there ever been a number of bars made from real parts on these type of ribbon? I don't remember any.

Here is a bar that I have been offered. I have passed on it but I wanted to post it to make sure I have not missed something. The things that give me pause are the new ribbons, the use of smaller ribbons and the style of bar. I gues it could be a remount that was just kept very clean but I want to see what you think. I can still buy this bar. I have been out for a while so I am a little cold.

Thanks for the help. I had not noticed any maker marks on these but I looked at the pinned thread and once I knew what I was looking for I found one single mark on the French piece. It seems to be a boar's head on the bottom wreath tie. It is hard for me to make out as it was struck very deep into the medal. These are really nice pieces to look at. I focus on Imperial German items but I do appreciate the beauty of these.

These are hard to find. If you look hard you will find a couple a year. I feel they were for civilian attire. I can't remember seeing one in a photo but it would be hard due to the size.

I agree. I just cannot find another example marked this way. It was an intersting surprise. I new there was a mark there but the old eyes just couldn't see it!

I have recently purchased these two pieces at an antiques show. A dealer had all furniture and these! I am an Imperial German collector so these are out of my area but I am smart enough to recognize what they are. The Italian piece looks to be gold. I was hoping the cases would help to date the pieces. If anyone wants to trade for a nice German PLM let me know!!!

I have had this bar in my hands twice. I did not like the way the EK2 ribbon was done. It looked modern and done by a different hand. The MVO4 looked like it had swords that were removed. I missed the other ribbons. Jan seems like a decent guy so if you did return it I wouldn't think he would give you a hard time.

One of my good, off-line collecting friends has an EK1 engraved to this man! I have seen pictures and it looks correct to me.

Better detail.

This is the first second class eagle I think I have ever owned. I have searched here and there and I do not find any others marked in the same manner. A Meybauer made piece for sure but I see no other B.PFEIFFER marked examples. Anyone else have one of these?

Thank you! I will add it to the appropriate case in the collection.

I have not been collecting much as of late but I came across this piece. There was a discussion recently that I read in regards to one of these and it sparked my interest. This is the small "W" version which would seem to be rare. From what I can see it differs from the one posted by Wildcard but seems to match the one in my little OEK. I bought it based on some poor photos and I will only be out $5 or so if it is a fake and I return it. For the record, I like it. All of the gold wash is long gone but it has been around a while. Any opinions will be appreciated!

This looks to have the 1957 period type pin on it. Not an awarded piece.
