Here is my one and only. From a Saxon grouping.

Hello! Great to see this thread come back up again! Many thanks Gunner 1 for the extra information. I am looking at some old Cross & Cockade magazines looking for reference to him or the 15 Squadron.
Rick - I got the little joke. There were a few actors in my family ya know.

Thanks Gerd - the guy at the MAX sold it as a West Wall. I looked a little closer and almost did the "Happy" dance in front of him. I managed to get several tables away before it overcame me. He was also the source of two of my enamel lapel devices, my Saxon mini bar and the cased Johanniter. I still keep in touch with him.

Actually it is kind of a mystery to me. I have only found one other for sale and it was described as a Hessian award and was on the same ribbon as I show. I do not know if I saved the other picture or not.

I owe you a better picture than this but this is all I have right now. I will have to open the vault. I remember this as being more pink than red.

It came with these!

That is a great Saxon bar!

It should also be mentioned that this Baden medal was awarded on one of two ribbons; the first being plain yellow and the second being that of the Military Karl Friedrich Merit Order.
I am not sure that I read the information correctly but if I did this is one of 733 such awarded pieces for that time frame. Makes it even more special to me.
Thanks for the info on the marking. I had hoped it was along those lines.

Thanks Darrell. I was pretty happy to see the mm on there. This is one of those items I bought thinking I would resell it and put the cash towards an Imperial item but then I fell in love

As we are talking Baden, does anyone else have the large Friedrich I with the engravers name on it? It is pretty small but as far as I can tell the ones on dealers pages and the one here are not marked. Don't tell Stogieman but I think I found a rival to the Saxon Silver St. Henry, at least for me .

One of my old timers. I really like this bar and the history it represents. Do you think the 1866 clasp made any Prussians mad?

A baden ribbon bar from me.

The pin has the K&Q 65 mark. This is one of the nicest conditioned items I have personally found. Enjoy.

Next I looked at the EK. The paint is different from the few others I have. The paint is not reflective and I describe it as "dead". I has a great effect when looking at it. It really pulled me into this cross. You can see patina but no marks or dings in the frame. I think it is unworn or nearly so.

I first looked at the case and it is a very nice original.

I am one of those collectors that just can not get off the fence and decide if I want to collect TR or Imperial German items. I prefer Imperial but sometimes something nice comes along and I just can't help it. I went to a new show for me this weekend in a very small hall. I was an hour late getting there and a few local sharks were there when I arrived. Third table in I found this! I could not believe it and the price was very nice for me. This is what I saw.

I am very weak in Reuss. In fact, this is it.

Here is a nice long bar to vet that had an EK2 and lots on spare cash. I would love to find the medal bar to this!

There is something important that I keep brining up on other forums and it keeps getting left out of the next conversation. Picture in post #7 is mine taken from WAF. I did not have a good camera or software back then but I am trying to show a detail of the pin. There is a little flaw on the shoulder of the pin - an indent. It is not on all Flock fakes. It is important because this same flaw is on the fake Flock KVK 1s and on the L/14 Gold Wound Badges. This common pin ties all of those old fakes to the same source. David has posted the first cross in probably 50 where the flaw is on the right side of the pin (soldered on backwards) not the left as I have always found. Look at the others posted and you will see a pattern. My cross came from the big ad that was and may still be in the front of the Military Trader.

Does that mean this is yours?

A new little display for my collection.
in United States of America
Posted
Hello,
I bought this little display last week in a local antique shop. It looks to have been taped into the back of a picture frame at one time and I plan to put it back into one for display. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone could answer.
First, is it possible that these were to one man? I don't remember having ever come across a group with three campaign medals in it. There is a silver star on the European/Africa and three bronze on the Pacific - that seems like a lot of action and no good conduct, Purple Heart or valor pieces.
Second, can you tell me what the two ribbons on the bottom center are for as well as the red, white and blue one over the National Defence medal is. I looked at a couple of web pages but could not find these. Is the solid red one a unit commendation? I am a little ashamed to be an American and not know my own ribbons. I need to learn and that is why I am here.
Thanks,
Chet
