Does that mean this is yours?

I guess Braunschweig. Does case #2 have a little silver cross in it?

Rick,
Are there any non-commbattent awards shown on the list?

Very sad news! I have been waiting for an E-mail from Tony to say he was back. I will miss him as we all will.

I was think along that line Bob. Someone who did some military time and then maybe a teacher or some other position. The mounting style to me is later. I have a WW2 bar mounted the same way. It has to be my least favorite style.
Rick, which medal would you think goes there?
Anyone have the second one somewhere. This bar has been on the back burner for about year now as I do not have a clue on #2. I keep thinking one will pop on Ebay or a dealer but none yet.

Bob - Saxon is 4-3/4" X 1-1/4". Prussian is 2-1/4" X 1-1/4". They seem to have been made on ribbon bar bars. I love the little St. Henry on the Saxon piece.
Wild Card - nice little chain. The observer is a real nice touch. I think this is the same type WB as yours just in a different mounting style. Mine is just a stamped piece of metal and not solid backed.
Thanks,
Chet

As most of you know I love medal bars. I often find them with no medals or missing medals and I try to reconstruct them. No big upgrades - just putting history back as it should be. It gives me a sense of fullfilment to restore a piece of history.
I found one that has a ribbon (the second one) I have not seen before. I posted it on the other forum and someone provided a link to ribbons that showed it as a Prussian Honor medal. Does anyone have any examples of what the medal looks like. If you want me to I can go and find the link to ribbon page as I may have the name wrong but it was along those lines.
Also, do you think there should be a little birdie on the first ribbon?

Here are my favorites! I have added one since this pic but it is a duplicate. The one has a mini WB soldered to the end of it. If you have any for sale or trade please contact me.

My mini bars. I think this is the only mounted WB I have seen.

I have one of these guys here in my area. He says individual medals sell faster and for more so he cuts up the bars. I will buy the ones that can be fixed and ad them to my pile of wayward bars in need of restoration. I have a few now .

I was playing with the collection tonight and I took photos of the new items. Here is one of them. I was very interested in the SW 68 on the packet due to the fact that most TR badges marked with the SW68 are considered fake. I agree with this but still found it interesting. Another one for my cased / packeted collection.

I posted this on Aerodrome and two people have replied. I knew I was not lucky enough to get a pilot but an observer is almost as good to me considering I just bought this as a trio to an officer. I am very happy with my new group.
Thanks for all of your help.

He was an observer with 15 Squadron in 1916. He and his pilot (Capt. A B Adams) filed three combat reports for indecisive combats, while flying the BE 2c.
Frank.

He is also mentioned in RFC Communique No 45 where he is listed as having been wounded in action on 28 July 1916.

The frame can stand or be hung on the wall. It is from Harrods and the medals fit in nicely.

There is some age fading to the velvet. Are these common?

Front of the frame. I wanted a medal bar but this frame will do nicely.

Great information guys! Sorry it has taken this long for pictures but I was a little road weary. Hope these are OK.

Well, I have to admit that Royal Flying Corps did come to mind but I am not ever that lucky. Wouldn't it be funny if my first pilot group was British! I will get photos and try the link from Rick over the weekend.
THANKS!!!

Hello,
I collect Imperial German items mostly but recently I have wanted to add a WW1 trio to my collection to balance things out. I did buy one single medal and figured out how to look some information on the original recipient. That medal had a 5 digit number, a name, and an abbreviated name for his unit??
This week I was on the road and I found a trio and I am totally lost as to what or who this man was. I will list what the medals have on them and if you can help I would greatly appreciate it.
1914-1915 star
LIEUT. G. K. G. KERR.
SHROPS. L. I.
War medal (I am not sure of the real name)
LIEUT. G. K. G. KERR. R.F.C.
Victory medal
LIEUT. G. K. G. KERR. R.F.C.
I know the rank and name but I am lost as to the rest. I will post pictures when I get a little more time as they are on an interesting display from Harrods - sorry I am just worn out from the drive around Lake Erie.
Thanks,

Paul,
The last ribbon is a peacetime ribbon and it is fine. Nice bar and a great case!

Floch advice
in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross

There is something important that I keep brining up on other forums and it keeps getting left out of the next conversation. Picture in post #7 is mine taken from WAF. I did not have a good camera or software back then but I am trying to show a detail of the pin. There is a little flaw on the shoulder of the pin - an indent. It is not on all Flock fakes. It is important because this same flaw is on the fake Flock KVK 1s and on the L/14 Gold Wound Badges. This common pin ties all of those old fakes to the same source. David has posted the first cross in probably 50 where the flaw is on the right side of the pin (soldered on backwards) not the left as I have always found. Look at the others posted and you will see a pattern. My cross came from the big ad that was and may still be in the front of the Military Trader.
