    1. That is very unusual.... I would have thought that if he recieved the Olympic medla, he would have been sure to already have a Hindenburg?

      Nice Bar!

The Hindenburg was not given out to my understanding. A person had to apply for it during 34/35. If this guy did not apply for it he would not have it on his bar. He was most likely done with war and then was somehow pulled back in as a civilian in uniform to get the Olympic medal and 25 year LS. I have a two war NC bar that has the Olympic and a similar LS award with no Hindenburg. It was blessed by Rick as original.

    2. I thought the Ost front was a bit odd also. I'll post a photo of everything I purchased. There is a small pin for the Destroyer badge and the Narvik shield.

The bars are sew on style and have a light grey backing in the style of Godet. I guess this could be a mixed grouping out of a family or just some stuff a GI picked up and I'm trying to make it a grouping. I am just trying to confirm the grouping suspicion so that I can keep the pieces together if that is how they belong. If not I will put them into my collection in several different cases as per my display organization,

Thanks for your help so far! It is truly appreciated.

    3. This is part of a Naval grouping. The name is scratched into the back of one of the badges. I found the first name by searching online. Seems he sailed into the 1960's. I thought he may be easy to find as he has the 25 year LS.

I am assuming that this a grouping and I must mention that. It all comes from one source and there was nothing that did not fit like a Luft badge or something that is clearly not associated.

    4. This cross is one of those pieces that I just had to buy. I was talking to a vendor at a show and this was on his table. It caught my attention and when I looked at it closely it spoke to me. This cross has the most wear of any EK1 I have. The wear to the pin is what makes me like this piece. Someone wore this cross for a long time to get it this highly worn.

    5. I watched this bar and considered bidding but stopped for two reasons. First, as Cladio mentioned, the front does not look like a Godet bar. It struck me as odd. From the few photos I could find the Jerusalem cross is either good or a great copy. Too few of these around for me to be sure. The second thing that stopped me was that as I have watched this collection get sold off there were a number of reproduction medals. It may be that there just were not many references available when this collection  was built up. I know there were bad pieces in there, as I am sure there are probably in mine, and that gives me extra pause in bidding on pieces from that collection.

I did notice the coloring of the Anhalt medal but to my eyes it looks like old metal polish that was left on the medal. There is some on the back of the Saxon piece also.

Overall, I am not sure about bar so I stayed out of the bidding. If good it is an outstanding gem for someone's collection.

    6. Dean,

Great little cross. I do not like these (Hindenburgs) as a rule but this version is rare. I own two by different makers. Ralph A. has one also. I turned the first one up a at Summit County gun show for $15! I still like it.

Definitly a smaller cross than the normal one. I'll look for the old thread. It should still be here. Nice obscure find!
