I do apologize if I have made it unclear to you. The problem with this bar is not the presence of both the FA medals, it's the colour of the bronze one and the position of the medals. If a FA medal is present on a bar it means that the soldier was enlisted in the saxon army (being in the saxon army does not require being born in Saxony). The saxons and everyone in their army were proud to be saxons, which was often showed in their medalbars. In germany it was the rule that the Iron cross should always come first on a bar, whether it is a ribbonbar or a medalbar, but in reality we see that Bavarians and Saxons often (certainly not always!) Place a medal from their own state before an iron cross, contrary to the rules. If a saxon or a bavarian choose to put the iron cross first (which sometimes did happen) than a medal of their state would be second. Certainly not third to an german imperial medal like the SWA medal.

Personally, I don't like the bar. the saxon medals should always come first or second, but never be third after an medal from the colonies. We also see that the ribbon looks new, a bit too new if you ask me, not to mention that every medal ranges in a scale from mint to very worn, and we must not forget that the silver friedrich august medal for 10 years is second, whilst the FA medal for 5 years is first, which should be the other way around.

JP-militaria, a lesser known seller of german militaria is offering this imperial flight badge, attributed to Ritter Fiala von Fernbrugg. An austrian-hungarian ace credited with 28 aeriel victories. The only reason to assume it might be his is the ingraving in the back. Would someone on this forum who is known with imperial flight badges have a look at it? Thanks in advance

I visited the houten militaria fair today, one of the biggest in holland and the company selling this bar had it with them and allowed me to inspect it and I must admit that in real-life, as is so often the case, the medals look better. I admit, the deumer iron cross is made during the interbellum, but the bavarian MVK 1.st class with swords is most certainly real.

I think it's credible, sure, some of the medals don't belong on the bar, but the bar itself is most certainly real. On the first ribbon should be a regular iron cross 2.st class and on the second ribbon should be a HK with swords. On the third ribbon should come the golden merit cross. On the fourth ribbon should come the silver merit cross. On the fifth ribbon should come the karl merit medal with the crown. The sixt ribbon should have the woundbadge, which was in Austria, contrary to other countries, a medal for a bar instead of a ´´steckabzeichen´´ like in germany. On the seventh ribbon should come the Karl-truppen kreuz and on the last ribbon should come the austrian annexation medal.

Although I must admit that the colours of the ribbons seem of, the last medal was awarded last, in 1938, yet it has lost more colour than the austrian ribbons, which are still minty red

The only info I was able to find about this avaitor are the dates of his birth and dead (16-december-1894_1-november-1942) and the place were he fell, mostlikely in combat (beljevo-velizh). He was awarded the knightscross of the iron cross on may 11th 1940. On the moment of his death he held the position of Hauptmann der fliegerreserve (flight captain of the reserves)

Dearest collectors on GMIC
I have only recently started collecting, and I would like to ask you what would be wrong with this medalbar. To me, a rather untrained eye, it looks perfectly normal. The medals for example look real to me, Could it be the backing of the bar, or rather the way the medals are hanging from, because I've seen more medalbars with this way of wearing.
