I was wondering what the favored types of PLMs are.

For me the mid 1800 type Godets with all the hand chasing are the most beautiful.

Do the prices vary much or is a genuine PLM just a genuine PLM?

I think you should post close ups of mm of all the crosses and catch/hinge details etc on all the crosses. I see some irregularities.

Scott they came in both cloth and metal versions and there are photos of the Legionairres wearing both types. There is also known to be at least one German made type metal one as well. The Winkler one looks very crude to me, but I hope tp learn more as perhaps Antonio and Panzerpioneer may shed some light on these for us.

Of course it is difficult to be affirmative observing only the obverse of a cross, but in that very case, the 2 crosses retain all the details of the announced marking. The patina is exactly what we can expect and for me there is no doubt. Of course, if I get them in hand, I would have a look on the reverse to see which kind of marking variant the Juncker have.

I was not absolutely sure what you mean in your post. You believe the rounder is post war? I am pretty sure that is what you meant, just want to be certain. I know there is a nasty battle between many folks with this subject, and I am not stirring any pots nor do I want to be involved in any of that, I only want to know if everybody is in agreement that the rounder is post war. (I know you can't speak for J.Cross or anyone else)

My vote is that the wording, abbreviations and style are consistent with period work I have owned/handled in the past. The style and type of engraving is again, IMO, consistent with an authentic piece. I like it Sal, congratulations! Oh yeah, the fact that it is on an issued cross is just a bonus confirmation for me. Clearly, the recipient was proud of what he did to earn this particular KO cross.....

I don't own it Rick. I have been debating it for a while. I liked it but am cautious with engravings (although I always find them very attractive!)

I also have been getting some very nice Legion Condor pieces which are affecting my pocket and in turn making me hesitant , but I am so tempted with this piece. What price would you think this cased cross should fetch?

I like it. It has the right look about it and i like the slight discoloration in the lettering.

BUT I also notice the difference in patina between the engraving and the KO makers

mark.

I bet one would have to see that in person as the mm looks deeper so that could be shadow. Dunno. I do keep thinking about it though.
