Hi,
there are a few errors in this thread.
1. "The conditions for the original bronze and gold types of 1913-14 remain a mystery."
Everybody must fulfill 5 requirements (only men):
- swimming 300m
- high jump or long jump
- running 100m, 400m or 1500m
- different competions to choose: javelin or shotput or discus etc.
- running 10000m or swimming 1000m etc.
No award for a function.
2. "There was no silver grade before 1919."
In German we say Jein, it is not yes and it is not no.
In the deed of foundation in 1913 all three grades were designed.
But for the silver badge you must fulfill the 5 exercises in 4 years. And there were only 2 years, 1913 and 1914.
3. "Here is a document for a 1929 Gold, earned, at that time, for a total of 8 years, and not at all connected with the recipient's age:"
The document is correct and it is connected with the recipients age.
It is the first repetition document for Gold, not the award document for Gold. It is the 8. repetion overall, and the 1. repetition for Gold, that he can get 7 years later.
And the bestowal number for this repetition document was 35473.
4. Rick, your sports badge in Gold, made by Eugen Marcus, marked 900 silver and gilded, is absolutely marvelous. It could be an unique piece.
But I think, it is not pre WWI, and I think, it is not an awarded piece.

Uwe

This is a badge shown here first out of the Imperial War Museum, differently coloured.
It is a copy.

Hi,
is it allowed, to post some pieces out of my collection?
The first one is a very small piece in silver:
cross: 29.5mm
ribbon: 27mm (new?)
The monogram differs from the other pieces presented here.
I do not know, to which period it belongs.

Uwe

Thank you for your replies!
Row 5, last ribbon, is just that, what I had identified:
Czech Republic, Order of the White Lion 1. class.
You can find this Marshal and just exactly this ribbon bar on pages 110 to 117 in the book "Marshals and Admirals of the Fleet of the USSR", the ribbon bar on page 116!
It is
Marshal of the Soviet Union Golikov
(It is a real one)

Hi Doc,
I beg your pardon, but this Marshall of the Sovietunion had only one polish order, the Grunwald cross I. class.
Please have a look at the enclosed picture, there you can see the very small white stripes on the ribbon of an order polonia restituta 1944, 5th class. That does not match.

Thank you for your comment.
But it could not be, because it measures 39mm, and not 24/25mm as all before, and 39mm normally must be a higher class.
Look at the sixth row in the middle, that is Poland, Grunwald cross I. class (35mm).

Hi,
I am a new member, but an old collector.
My interests are far diversified.
Some years ago I bought some nice pieces of a Marshal of the Sovietunion.
On the basis of his ribbon bar I could identify him.
And the most decorations on his bar are identified, but not all, beginning in the fifth row at the end.
Can you please help me?
Regards
Uwe

Is it allowed for a new member, to post here something?
I have seen a Marshal in this forum, wearing the ribbon bar in my possession.
There are some more interesting parts of this man in my collection.
Do you know the name and all the decorations on his bar?

Uwe

I think, that the 3 Eugen Marcus sport badges shown here from Darrell, Rick and Hardy are post WWI pieces.
